Anderson cable

Hey all,

I am a new power wagon owner here and need to run an Anderson cable from the battery to the back. I saw a post that suggested to run it through the firewall and the cab floor and then out the back, but would it not just be as simple to run it straight down the side somewhere? If anyone has found a good runway, I would love to know. I also here mixed comments about grounding the negative to the truck vs the battery, where some say that grounding to the battery will affect some electronics?

Thanks

Going through the cab would be needlessly difficult. Run the cables down the back of the engine bay and then with the other wiring harnesses along the frame rails.

You can only use the chassis for ground if you’re pushing 50A or less. Otherwise IMHO run your negative back to the battery. Make sure you connect it to the battery sensor where the other neg cables are connected, not directly to the battery. That sensor is how the truck knows what the power draw is and controls both charging of the battery and control of the alternator output.

Down the frame rails is the best way, in the cab would be silly for no reason. I have 0/1AWG cables running down my frame to the rear for my dump trailer and flat deck with winch.
