Total weight 17,260
Truck loaded 9240 (7830 empty)
Trailer 8020
Tongue 1080 no WDH

Should I move car back slightly in Trailer to lighten the tongue weight?

Tongue weight is good at 12.5%, I wouldn’t lower it any.

Your numbers look good to me.

In 2023 if a 3/4 diesel truck can't tow an 8k trailer, we got serious problems.
Just not much weight to spare. Payload in bed is only 1400 some pounds. I can't find a sticker on the hitch saying what it is rated at.
I will be traveling from Alaska to Vegas with my new baby in the trailer.

The hitch ratings are in the owners manual.

Your axle weight ratings are more important than GVWR/payload... don't exceed those and you'll be fine.

You still have ~400 lbs of payload from what I can see. You are more than good.

The hitch on the truck is rated at 3k tongue weight IIRC its quite stout

2,000lbs on the 2500 and 2,300lbs on the 3500… thou it’s the same hitch from what I can tell.
The rating in the book yes but i thought i was reading somewhere from the manufacture of the receiver its self was more than rams specs but i cant remember the source where i read it

Opinions on my loadout...I was moving some steel and some machining equipment..seemed i might have been too loaded on the trailer axle? It was a metal lathe that was optioned to be moved as an after thought. Trailer is an FMax 207 GN. The GVWR of that trailer is 15.5K...

The 2500's with the CTD take a beating in payload, but they can pull an amazing amount of weight. The payload on my 2500 with the Hemi is 3103 pounds. I pull a TT with a tongue weight of approx. 1400 to 1500 pounds. That is with the bed empty. I needed the extra payload just to be able to load up the back of the truck with the rest of the camping gear.

If you can recall the source I’d be interested in the data.

It’s not uncommon for things to be underrated in OE applications.
