AlphaOBD to disable BSM in 2023 with flatbed

Hello all,

I’m currently awaiting my 2023 Limited 3500. I’ll be pulling the bed off of it and replacing it with an aluminum flatbed. I know there are a couple issues that I’m going to have to address, one being the tail lights and the other the blind spot monitoring. Does anyone know if I would be able to address those issues with an alpha OBD?

Thanks,

Getting back to this….Flatbed installed!

I’m not having luck getting the truck to realize that the BSM is gone and that the lights in the bed aren’t actually out. Any Alphaobd tips for me @Jimmy07

Looks like the settings to enable are in the post: Work backwards from there?

Thanks @Brutal_HO that worked!

I am now down to just the errors associated with the lights.

I take it the lights are not the factory LED?

Are there separate stop and turn (factory LED/BSM would be).

Take a look at this thread post and the following one over on Cummins Forum:

Thanks Brutal. The factory lights and the flatbed lights are both led. I’ve got all the lights in the flatbed working as they should be I’m just trying to figure out what to do in Alfa to tell the truck that all the lights aren’t out.

I took the plug out of the factory bed and spliced that into the flatbed wiring harness so I didn’t have to cut into the truck harness at all.

I didn’t see a clear solution in that thread to get rid of light out error except the second to last post referencing disabling a bulb out setting.

“The flatbed dealer in Oregon has no idea what's going on so I had to drive it home to Tricities like that...with windows rolled down and right side step deployed and heater on (no computer for climate controlled. The flatbed dealer today sent me a PDF saying maybe Bulb Out feature needs disabled to help light errors go away and blinker signal to function normally on dash. But no idea on why all the random items don't work.”

I’ll have to see if I can find a bulb out setting to disable in Alfa.

For B1642 and B1646, set these:
CBC Config I/O Usage: Left Rear Turn Lamp Diagnostics Present - Pin F27- NO

CBC Config I/O Usage: Right Rear Turn Lamp Diagnostics Present - Pin F31- NO

For B166B, you probably have an actual left trailer tow lamp circuit short to ground somewhere.
