All Cameras Stop Working When Tailgate Removed

Is this normal? A blue screen comes on. When I select a camera, the screen just blinks off and on.

You should have received a cover plate that goes on the connector when the tailgate is removed. Perhaps that would solve the issue? I have never removed mine so speculating here.
 
Thanks for the reply. I put that cover on every time I remove the tailgate.

Bummer. Maybe @Jimmy07 or someone else who has removed the tailgate can chime in. Has it always done this or just started?
 
Quite a few times a season I carry and use an 11 foot slide in camper. (tried to find a picture)
 
I don't have any problems using the mirrors, as I was a professional driver for over 40 years. I think what's irking me is that my 100 plus thousand dollar truck has such a silly bug. Will bring it up next time I'm in for warranty work. Thanks to both members for chiming in. :)
