Hi, so about a year ago when I got my truck, I bought the AlfaOBD software and an OBDLink EX cable and the KaoTech security bypass harness. I was able to make changes and all was good. Fast forward a handful of months and I accidentally ripped the security bypass harness out of the CAN connectors with the parking brake. I just received my new harness and installed it, but when I try to connect with AlfaOBD I get an error to make sure the ignition is in the “MAR” (run) position and to check wiring. I’ve confirmed all connections are tight, and the green light is on the OBDLink, and I’m on the most up to date software for AlfaOBD. Does anyone have any idea as to why it worked last year but isn’t now? Thanks in advance.
Kevin

Anyone? I emailed AlfaOBD and all their response was the same as the message I get “check wiring and turn ignition to MAR”. Which I’ve done. I even moved the bypass harness to different ports in case that was the issue.

Ports in the block, if you're in the correct block, don't matter unless you broke something.

Check you're in the right blocks. Look at the image in the link below.

Is it possible you broke the OBD connector or a wire is pulled there?

Are you sure you're selecting the correct port for the EX cable connection in AlfaOBD/Windows?

I’ll double check the ports, but I’m pretty sure they’re correct. Black connector into black base, white connector into white base.
The OBD port works, I can use my handheld scan tool just fine.
Yes, I have selected the EX cable.
Thanks for your reply.

You need to check the wire colors, I think KAOdTECH is still putting on the wrong (mismatched color) headers on.

Now that it’s above 0º outside, I was able to swap the connectors around. Man those little clips are hard to disengage. This ended up being the issue. Swapped the connectors around and I can connect. Thank you for the help!

Yes they are.

Most shave the clips a little, just take off the sharp edge.

That's also how to keep them from ripping wires if they get caught on something.
