TCM tuning is the only way to stay in the gears longer. Can't forget to mention the defueling the stock Aisin calibrations do, it bogs the truck down at 4th and 5th.. With my recent 2G swap and dyno tuning..for some reason this defueling was multiplied..I would loose all boost when going from 4th to 5th..damn truck would defuel, loose boost, then I'd have to rebuild boost and then it would sling shot....I was running on 4:10's with 37's. Using T/H mode would clean up a little....just didnt like the aggressive downshift..It works with a load behind her..but around town...no. Couldn't find a happy medium. It was annoying. So I re-geared to 4.44's and did TCM revisions. Truck runs great and shifts meh....could be better... It actually holds the gears longer now..doesnt defuel and fall flat on its face as before.......just with slightly higher rpms cause of the 4.44's...It actually tows better with these gears than the 4.10 did.
I'm actually looking at re-tuning the TCM with Calibrated Power's Aisin TCM tune. From what I understand from them, they are offering calibrations from mild to wild....I also looked at PPEI and spoke with them about their TCM tunes, and its basically a generic, increase line pressure, tune.
If you dont want to re-tune your TCM, you can alway manually shift it from the steering wheel....
