Air Suspension Question

I just picked up my new 2500 Limited Longhorn with the rear air suspension. The manual is very vague on a few things that I am hoping you guys can help me with. When I hit the air suspension button it states the truck is lowering to alt height. Is there suppose to be another mode when backing up the truck to lower down to hook up a trailer? Also, the truck stayed in the alt height without hooking up the trailer as I drove home and didn't raise back until I hit the button. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't confirm 100% but I'd advise you to look at the manual and explore the settings. My guess would be that there is no way to do what you're asking for a number of reasons. The "auto" part of the air suspension just means adding/removing air to keep it level.

there is supposed to be a mode to drop it down ~3” to allow for easier trailer hookup. I believe it’s in the “apps” section somewhere. I will go out and check mine later when it’s not pouring rain, but I’ve read about that several times on other forums.

The “alt trailer height” button is just to change the height while driving in case the trailer prefers a 1” lower pull height. I personally use an adjustable ball mount, so this wouldnt’ be useful for me, but I guess it’s helpful if you have a standard mount.

@marcd118 There is a function to lower the truck for loading and unloading a trailer and or ease of entering bed of truck.
In the apps section of the Unconnect "Bed Lowering Mode" You can drag the button from the apps section to your center stack.
Here is a link to another thread:

I have the Air suspension and love it. The regular mode actually has the back end of the truck slightly higher than the front end. The Alternate trailer height makes the truck completely level. And in the apps there is a button for bed lowering which helps with hitching up. When not towing I keep it in normal mode. When towing I put it into alternate trailer height. In that mode the air suspension keeps everything nice and level. Below is a picture of my set up. Good Luck!

My mistake. I thought the alt mode was that dropped down for hitching, I didn't realize there was an additional height option. That's what I get for talking about something I don't have direct experience with.

So I have a question not really stated in the bed lowering mode details. I have a Laramie and My bed lowers (alt height) and bed lowering mode from the app even when empty. A friend has a Big Horn and he asked me to show him how it works. Alternate height worked empty but lowering mode did not. Is his model only gonna work with a Load? Anyone know? I cant seem to find the Answer. Owners manual is Vague

The process I described only works this way on a 2500. The 3500 has a different setup. I know that sometimes I get a bed lowering (or razing) is disabled message. For some reason once I put the truck in gear and move a bit it seems to then work fine. Might have something to do with the air compressor. Anything else and he should speak to his dealer. Good luck.

Yeah, we both have 2500's. I saw with the 3500 you have to have weight in it. I got that disable message 1 time. If the bed is lowered you cannot put it back up with alt. height button, otherwise you get that message.

The additional mode is in your app's. It will stay in alternate height if you choose to leave it there. If you use the lowering button in your app's it will adjust itself back up to normal height on it's own when you move the truck.
