Hello All,

First post.

I’m currently about to purchase a 2020 Laramie 2500/3500. Have a couple questions I was hoping some good answer.

I found a truck that has everything I’m looking for (Safety group, off road, Level 1, 5th wheel prep and sunroof).

The only thing missing is the AUX switches. I need them and don’t want to use aftermarket ones, but it’s hard to find a Laramie optioned the way I want.

So my question is if I can add it after the fact? Can I buy the aux switch panel and just plug and play after swapping it out? Is that part even available for purchase? Does the truck have to be reflashed to activate them?

Also: The only difference between Level 1 and Level 2 Laramie group is the Harmon Kardon and Rear Heated seats right?
Thanks!

There is a rather long thread on here already about adding AUX switches.. the answer seems to be 'yes' but it is a pain in the ass... you can't just but the panel and have it work, you will need quite a but of stuff

If you can't find THE ONE, factory order one? There is a lot of members here that did it. I certainly don't regret doing it and will do that from now on.

As has been indicated, there's a bigger thread that covers this.

If you need any help after reading through the thread, there are a few members found in that thread that may be able and willing to help you build (for a cost) the wiring and options.

You will need access to AlfaOBD and the other tools to enable it.

There's a pretty good search function here https://hdrams.com/forum/index.php?search/

Bottom line, unless you're hard up for a new truck, I'd keep looking or order a truck with them.

Thank you all for your replies. I ended finding a fully loaded Longhorn for less than ordering a Laramie. Even had the dual 380 alternators and VSIM, so I’m good. Truck picture tax.

Cummins truck dual alternators are 2x220A. The gas trucks are 220+160.

If that's true, I stand corrected. I didn't think the build and price site would let you build one like that.
It is kind of silly sounding when for a pittance more you can get the 220+220 option for the diesels.

I'm still having a hard time buying into this.

On the build site, it shows 380A (220+160) for Hemi trucks only. if you build a Diesel it deselects the 380 dual alternators. If you try to select them, it forces it back into a Hemi. Pick 440A, it forces it to Diesel.

Maybe in some bizarro world a dealer can option this, but I couldn't.
