Adding adaptive cruise

I am here to report a successful install on a 2019.
First I would like to thank @Jimmy07 for all the info provided, it is the reason I was able to get ACC working.
Initially I had the same config mismatch that everyone is complaining about - that also got me banned at my local dealership.
I changed the truck configuration per Jimmy's directions but after comparing his truck config with mine I discovered that there were 2 differences. I made the changes and it worked.
Below you will find all the changes I made:

VehConfig 2: Cruise Control Present- NO

VehConfig 7: Type of adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system present- ACC with stop

VehConfig 7: Full Speed Range Forward Collision Warning Plus System- YES

CustSetMenu 1: Forward Collision Warning CSM Present- Feature 2 - 3 Option

CustSetMenu 2: Forward Collision Warning Single Setting (Warning and Brake) CSM Present- YES

P/T Chassis Net: ACC/DASM Adaptive Cruise Control/Driver Assistance Module- ENABLE

Collision Mitigation System Present - Yes

Forward Collision Warning Present - Yes

Auto High Beam Module Location - IRCM

CRVMM - No

Wish you good luck in getting yours to work, I'm moving on to LKA (as soon as I figure out what that custom harness is)

Thank you Jimmy07
What model truck is your 19

New member as i'm looking at Ram 2500's right now but I'm a long time 1500 owner. Does this modification work for the 2024's? TIA!

Did anyone here add this so they could later add the comma ai with openpilot? I'm negotiating a 2024 right now so I can hopefully add that. Thanks.

Some people have been able to and some have not. Don’t buy a truck that doesn’t have it assuming you’ll be able to add it. If you need to have it find a truck that comes with it.

Found a 2024 with adaptive package already in it from the factory that I bought today. Excited for the adventures with the Cummins. Thanks for the help!

Posts 22 & 23 updated with some ACC install instructions.

Extra info for those that want to add lane assist along with ACC:
If you ALREADY HAVE adaptive steering, you just need to swap in the correct 12” screen that has the lane assist button (and no, you can’t get away with adding lane assist without having the physical button).
12” screens with lane assist button:
2019-2021 Cummins (Uconnect 4 only)- 68370849AC
2019-2021 Hemi (Uconnect 4 only)- 68423810AC
2022+ Cummins (Uconnect 5 only)- 68526611AB
2022+ Hemi (Uconnect 5 only)- 68526610AB

If you DO NOT have adaptive steering, in addition to the screen you need to swap out the steering gear box for the one with torque overlay- 68507900AB
Jumper wiring to connect steering module- 68485757AA (for 2019, you’ll need an additional custom harness)
The intermediate steering shaft (the one that connects to the gear box) is swapped out for a shorter one- 68427394AA

These are all the settings for lane assist:
VehConfig 7: Lane Departure Warning Present- YES

CustSetMenu 1: Lane Departure Torque CSM Present- YES

CustSetMenu 1: Lane Departure Warning CSM Present- YES

P/T Chassis Net: EPS Electric Power Steering- ENABLED (already set on adaptive steering equipped)
Where's the custom harness for the 2019?

I'm getting around to putting ACC on my 2019 Ram 2500 Laramie. I have rain sensing wipers, and auto high beam headlights. I was told with those that I wouldn't need to replace the windshield. But, I've also been told that most Laramie's have the Advanced Safety Group but I don't see it on my window sticker.

Do I need to replace the windshield for PN: 68362490AB?

This is everything needed to add ACC:
-Rear view mirror adapter- 68338659AA
-Lower mirror cover- 6PA25TX7AA
-Upper mirror cover- 6PA26TX7AA
-(3) DASM mounting nuts- 6509581AA
-Windshield (or equivalent aftermarket part number)- 68362490AB
-Adaptive cruise steering wheel switch- 68365332AC
-DASM/mirror harness (without cab lights)- 68517603AA
-DASM/mirror harness (with cab lights)- 68517609AA
-DASM- The part number is different for each model year, and so far, a used DASM can not be used. I’m in the middle of testing whether it matters which model year part number is used, and a viable solution to clear the original VIN out of a used one so it can be a cheaper retrofit. ***EDIT*** A used DASM can be used. Instructions for dealership tech below***
2019- 56029825AG (I’m not sure if this one is capable of lane assist)
2020- 68454269AG (I’m not sure if this one is capable of lane assist)
2020- 68462656AF
2021- 68484693AD
2022- 04672894AB

When you get the windshield installed, MAKE SURE to have them remove any charges for reinstalling sensors, or calibrating sensors.
You will be installing the DASM yourself, and you’ll have to have the dealership run the calibration. Safelite, or any window installer that uses asTech software (most do) are not capable of taking the new DASM out of plant mode for the calibration. Plus, they charge about $450 for the calibration.

**Sidenote for anyone that already has ACC, FCW, etc that needs windshield replacement, and is paying out of pocket**
Do not let the windshield installer calibrate the DASM, and have them remove any charges for it. It is absolutely not necessary to recalibrate a Ram DASM that was already calibrated before, and hasn’t had the adjustment screw physically adjusted.

***This is what you need to tell the dealership tech to do if using a used DASM:
1) Perform the “Enter Plant Mode” function:

View attachment 52401

2) Clear all DTCs. This will get rid of the vehicle configuration mismatch fault so the calibration will run.
3) Run the auto alignment procedure like they normally would:

My truck came factory with ACC and DASM part number 56029825AG but cant seem to get lane assist to work so my guess it has to do with DASM based on your comment above. Is the dealer that only one that can program a new one or is there a way to use alpha obd or have one that is preprogrammed?

**Edit**
Looks like you mentioned if a DASM has already been calibrated and the adjustment screw has not been adjusted it will not need to be calibrated.

How do you know if you have adaptive steering? Is it trim dependent (maybe all Laramie and higher have it), or cab dependent (maybe crew cab and megacab its standard), or based on tech you already have (such as if you already have surround camera, or ACC and FCW), or a combination of these characteristics?

I ask because I'm considering a 2019 or 2020 megacab with surround view, ACC, and FCW and at the last second noticed it does not have lane departure warning. If adding LDW is as easy as changing the screen bezel to one with the button I'll buy this megacab. However if I have to source multiple steering components I'll look for different models.

The truck will have adaptive steering if it has the lane assist button. I am not sure anyone has gotten LDW to work without have lane assist. I am currently trying to get all of it to work on my truck by adding the hardware but have not been successful yet.

Thank you, the screen bezel button for lane warning is blank. Is it for sure that if the button is missing then the truck does not have adaptive steering? I haven't found adaptive steering specifically mentioned on any Monroneys yet - but I just started looking.

BTW, do I have my systems wrong? What is available on stock 2019-2024 Ram 2500s - lane departure warning or lane departure assist?

My truck is 2022 power wagon, it has adaptive steering but does not have lane departure assist. It was built during the COVID parts shortage I believe so it also does not have adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, or 360 camera. I know they are all stand alone options but the vast majority of 2022’s I’ve seen did not have any of those options which leads me to believe it was due to parts/chip shortages.

I would like to add all the features to my truck but between the price and the possibility that adaptive cruise can’t be added successfully I don’t think it’s worth the effort. I also do t like the way the truck drives with adaptive steering. It seems to wonder all over no matter the alignment settings or tire pressure.

I know for sure when the truck has lane departure assist it will have the torque overlay for adaptive steering. I personally like adaptive steering and have not experienced the wondering. It does make the steering much lighter so inputs are more sensitive. 2019s didn’t have the option to come with adaptive steering. I believe it wasn’t an option until 2021. To know for sure if the truck has it you can pop the hood and look for the silver torque overlay attached to the steering gearbox shown in the pic.

I dont know if you saw, but I figured out the custom harness for LKA or really for the torque overlay that is required for LKA. Still working to get LKA fully functional and the only thing I can think now is the DASM currently in my truck does not support it. I just ordered a used one from a 2022 to test.

What steps did you have the dealer do? Also, did you buy a used or new DASM and which part number did you use? I am hoping I can get LKA to work on mine and I am down to the DASM being the problem.

Just checking has anyone successfully completed the adaptive cruise add on a
2023 I have a 2023 3500 6.7 tradesman.
