I'm considering adding a leaf to the overload springs on my 2021 3500 Dually. Has anyone done this? pros and cons? where did you purchase your new overload leaf?
Thx in advance

Reach out to Deaver springs in CA. They have been in business for over 100 years. It's easy to do

I'll shoot them an email however, from there website it appears they do not handle Ram springs.

They will make anything. Worth a call, they know what they are doing that's for sure, worth a shot

Pros - none
Cons - it’s dumb

Add air bags instead
I don't have a dog in the fight. But, just because it isn't the way you'd go, doesn't mean it's dumb. Rather insulting to the OP if you ask me. Overloads have been used for years. Pretty carefree and actually very simple.

He asked the whole internets opinion. He got it. I’m not going to apologize for mine.

If you’re going to overload it constantly and you add more overload leaves you’re just going to bend your main leaves. Air bags are the correct way to handle extra load.

Just because they’ve been used for years doesn’t make them good. Add a leafs have always been a half-ass way to get a little bit of lift or capacity for a very short amount of time. You always end up with the same result. Clapped out leaf springs.

Now this is more constructive than just saying "it's dumb". Something he can take into consideration in his decision instead of totally tuning your comments out from the beginning. I've seen many of your posts and know you have good knowledge and experience.

We used to use an extra overload which was ok when you had a ton of weight but when you had just enough to touch the overload pads it was the worst ride you can get

I ended up going with Hellwig 9705, just got them installed yesterday.
Should work great when I'm pulling the 5th wheel.

This fellow got tuned out right out the gate, my last 3 welding trucks had air bags and they were loaded "fulltime". I don't have issue with air bags, just wanted an extra leaf for the over loads when pulling the 5th wheel, I retired
