I’d like to add a front oem camera to my 2019 bighorn 3500 (6.7 Cummins, 8” u-connect screen), is this just plug and play or do I need AlfaODB or ??

I’m not at all skilled when it comes to electrical mods - would also like to know if this is just not a recommended or easy update.

Thanks

It's a fairly easy mod, you need a wire harness to connect to the radio. Here is a site that may help you and includes data from a member who makes the harness.

Resurrecting this thread. Is there one for the 12" screen? I didn't see it on their site. I'd like to add a front camera, I used one all the time on my previous truck

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

It’ll work on a 12” screen, but if you have a 2022, the one from the link above won’t work because the connector terminals are different. I can set you up with one for the 2022 Uconnect 5.

interested in this as well for a 2022 3500 w/ 12" uconnect

I attempted this mod, and tried to resurrect an older thread. I used pins 24/25 and I'm getting only a blue screen for the cargo camera after the alfaobd changes. I've read other threads where people are using pins 21/22 with success. Is that what I should try? I don't even know how to de-pin the thing now.

Yes, use 21/22. Pull the red face off of the radio connector, and use a small pick to pry up the plastic tab that locks the terminals in place while pulling the wire out from the backside.

Will the oem front camera mod work on a 2020 3500 w 8.5” uconnect?

I’ve bought the AlfaODB and SGB but my local shops won’t touch anything that requires bypasses/special jumpers, etc. and I don’t trust myself w electrical work and am afraid of effing up my whole electrical system (flashback to 25yr ago when I mis-grounded a stereo and burned up my entire dash). Is there anyone on here who does electrical mod work in the Houston, TX area?

I'll have to double check, but I think my 21/22 are occupied :(

Couldn't you theoretically plug in the rear auxiliary camera and route one to the front?

Or buy another camera and rewire it to fit the rear auxiliary port and mount it up front.

If they are, remove those wires. Those are for the factory mopar aux trailer camera #1
I may be an idiot (likely), but for the life of me I can't de-pin these connections. Would it be terrible to use posi-taps on the existing 21/22 wires? If I ever wanted an aux trailer camera I could add a physical switch.

Has anyone done this on the new uConnect 5? Just curious what camera you're using - as I am going to see if @Jimmy07 can fab me up a harness for my 2022 3500.

I just did it with the Natika camera. Works perfectly. I'd send some pics but the truck is getting the carli items installed right now.
