Our 2012 F350 spontaneously combusted. So we are in the market for a new truck and have our eye on a 2018 2500 6.7.
What do we need to look for? We will be towing a 9000 lb RV. This truck has 204K but is a diesel.
Any thoughts for us?

Being that it has the 68rfe trans I would just give it a good through test drive. It is the weak link in the drive train in these trucks. Not that it isn’t a good trans but they have valvebody or solenoid pack issues. Easily swapped out if your mechanicaly inclined as I just went thru it in my truck. I have the 66rfe in the gas with a 6.4 but the same issues across the rfe trans line up. Not the end of the world but something to lookout for. Make sure it is shifting good with no harsh up or downshifts. That is the tell tell sign of it having problems. Other than that just go over real good and check for leaks. I’m sure someone can give more to look for being it’s a diesel. Good luck

I have owned my 2018 Ram 2500 since new in April 2019. We have around 25k on it with over half towing our 5ers that weigh between 10k and 12.5k up all over the West and Northwest. Knock on wood no problems yet. As long as I don't push it too hard the trans temp runs between 160 and 175 almost always. Push it too hard and you will put it over 200 which is not good.
