A/C Issues? Anyone else

On top of it all they filled my 37s to 65PSI

it’s a 50psi max tire.. says so on the sidewall. I run them at 45F/35R and yeah i know that sounds low I’ve chalk tested them..
That does not sound low at all, but yea i dont let dealers do anything other than recalls and some warrenty

Well she’s only got 8k on her. I want have documentation of service just in case i need any costly warranty work done.. I’d hate to give them any wiggle room when it comes to warranty work.. (looks like they already started wiggling with that valve). my oil life was still @30% but i wanted to be diligent and get the first break in oil change done sooner than later..

It’s a shame because I’ll have to find another dealer to do business with. These guys showed me more than enough already and i drove 40 min to see them (the dealer closest to me is even worse to deal with)

Fun fun

Curious as to what people are experiencing with the performance of their A/Cs. It's hot here and mine doesn't seem to blow very cold.

Here's a video of comparing my 2019 Ram 3500 to a 2019 GMC sierra 1500. The GMC blows cold...

Es I had ac issues the coldest mine would get was 59 degrees, the is a TSB for this, they had to do it to my truck, it now blows 48 degree air, much better but not outstanding. I can probably find the TSB number on some of my paper work if you need it.

I’d like it. From what I’ve heard it’s not for 22’ model trucks

Question: where does the coolant go after it goes through the heater core? Is it cycled back through the block to the pump? Or directly back to the pump?
His technician is wrong. There's no way that valve can deny coolant to the cylinders, let alone the backside. All that valve does is deny coolant to the heater core. Theoretically, the valve could be providing better coolant flow to the cylinders.

Yea as said the tech is very wrong his theory is wrong you wont see a difference in temps as its only the heater core not getting circulation everything else circulates freely…

LOL.

How do industrial engines keep cool without a heater core?

Ask him to point out where the heater core is in the flow diagram.

I don't trust those "certified" mechanics at my both close range dealers either. They both couldn't program my FOB which later on I found out it was missing battery. Once I installed it programing went fine. Anyway I only go to dealers to have some kind of paperwork to prove it was them who did all the maintenance.

I totally agree with you, it was under warranty or I would not have been there, not to mention I have a scratch on my dash and a rattle that I didn't have before after they worked on it. Hardly no one takes any pride in their workmanship anymore and charge extremely high prices for the less than adequate work. I try to do everything myself if I can.

Their plan is to eliminate DIY guys. I remember in my wife's ford if there was a firmware update , you could just go online and download it , put it on USB stick and just install it yourself. With RAM there is a recall now for the ABS light. So they have to perform firmware update. I have to make a stupid appointment and wait there from an hour to two hours. This is crazy. And they don't have a guy there all the time who can do that so it's really inconvenient hours. Will have to take a half day off from work just to have it done. Or leave my car there but they never have loaners available.

Hello, I got my Ram in February, when spring came A/C was okay. When heatwave started in July it was very poor. I can't see installing an external valve Mod to remedy this issue. It's a modern truck and the system should work efficiently. It is less than effective on hot days and takes at least an hour to cool enough to feel comfortable. It's even worse if you have a couple passengers in the vehicle or have rear vents open. The lowest vent temp I got was 40 degrees a few times on a 90 plus degree day. I thought it fixed itself but next day of heatwave the coldest I got was a 49. Definitely not happy with HVAC performance. I think that there may be a calibration issue being that it did blow colder on some occasions. I have temporarily closed rear A/C vents, and it helps a little. I'm going to get it checked as soon as I have some time off

I have posted a few times about the A/C problem on my 2019 ram 2500 not cooling correctly. I have to constantly change the temperature and had taken it in a few times and was told that it is in “specks “ they finally replaced the blend doors and it was better but not comparable with othe manufactures . I found that if I turn down the temperature to low it got better cooling but if you change it AT all it starts blowing hot.

Relative humidity can really affect A/C performance which might explain the day to day difference - however if you are truly getting a 40-50 degree drop from ambient I'd say your system is working extremely well. Vent temperature is not a static thing and will vary depending on many different factors.

Also have a 2019, and there is a fix from a TSB (of which there appears to be an update here), however if you're out of warranty it's a somewhat expensive fix. Parts list appears to be around $200, plus shipping, which can vary but appears to be generally over $50. Book calls for roughly a day of labor to do the fix. Apparently it's updated parts.

There is a discussion on it here (https://hdrams.com/forum/index.php?threads/ac-fix-tsb-pre-8-20-build-trucks.3162/), which I just started digging through.

Could someone point out where I would need to install a clamp (not planning to do the bypass) on my 2024 6.4L gasser? It's sadly still an issue on the new trucks too. My 2019 1500 had the same issue and the clamp helped massively (and I could easily pop it off before taking it in for any dealer work).

This is the passenger side of the engine bay.

My AC has never been anywhere close to 40 or 49 degrees. Consider yourself lucky.

I’ve also been trying to figure out which hose to close off. Can’t find much info on the 6.4l. I experimented with clamping those two hoses that parallel each other and enter the firewall right next to each other. Neither hose being clamped made a difference in my ac temp. I measured a low of 47 degrees just idling in the shade. I might try again while actually driving to see if that makes a difference. I removed the cabin air filter which helped a ton with the air flow.

Thought I'd post as well. My 2020 Ram 2500 has never blown 'cold'... just cool. I guess it works to a point but it certainly isn't cold air. But here's the thing tho... I also own a 2021 Genesis G80 and it behaves the same exact way, right down to the 'cool but not cold' air temperature coming out the vents. Made me think there was a mechanical reason some late model vehicles had that was causing this.
