I have 2019 2500 6.7 and the light goes out on the 4 wheel drive switch and will not switch to 4wd. Shutting it off and turning right back on does not work. I have to turn the truck off and let it sit for about 10 minutes before it will work again. Anyone else experiencing this?

this happened to my buddies truck while we were in the cloudcroft nm area. had to do the same. turned it off hoping for the best when we had lunch. came back out and all worked per normal. no codes or anything...

Mine does it all the time. Never has any codes. I inspected all the wires and unplugged the harness and it was clean inside. Winter is coming and I’m not trying to get stuck somewhere

And people wonder why I got the manual floor shifter.

Good luck getting this resolved I would imagine if it’s not unplugged/ bad fuse then it is a bad 4x4 button module

Hi Jwhitney82,
We'd suggest visiting your local dealer to diagnose your concerns. If you need any additional assistance alongside them, feel free to send us a PM. We'd be happy to help.

same issue here...I suspect since there is no check engine light AND the dealer will be unable to recreate the event they wont be able to help much

I figures out my issue. I have a Banks pedal monster and that was the culprit. Changed the settings to no obd and that fixed the problem.

@Jwhitney82 interesting....how do you make that change? (i also have the pedal monster that connects via my smartphone and the OBD port.)
On the app go to the settings and were you would pick your vehicle and just pick no obd. That will stop if from communicating with the computer.

Good job figuring that out. Does Banks know it is an issue? Maybe they can make a firmware update.

I called and told them about it. They said they knew it was occurring and that they though they had it worked out in the last update. So they said they look into it some more. I don’t care about the reverse safety so I’ll just leave how it is. Still fully adjustable and I don’t have to worry about causing some other kind of issues.

How long did it take to make it stop? I disconnected mine from the obd and clicked the option then turned it off and on and it still had no 4WD

Disconnect it and wait about a half hour. Then reinstall with no obd functionality and you’ll be all set.

This worked for me! I also would have never figured it out. And the dealer was unable to recreate the problem.

I had the same issue one time with my EZlynk hooked up but have not had it happen again i wonder if thats what caused mine…. I wish i would have got the floor shift but i could not find a truck with it and had no time to order a truck

This just happened to me while up in Idaho. It was very frustrating. Luckily I found this thread and unplugged my Pedal Monster which fixed it immediately.

When I got home I plugged it back in and installed the newest update. We'll see how it goes from here.

I have the same problem, sometimes the 2wd/4wd light is on sometimes off , when its off you cant switch the transfer case. Also check your front and rear park sense if you have it because when one does'nt work neither does the other. I've had the switch replaced and it happened again. When I brought it in the second time I noticed that switching out of park it made a clunking sound and they said it sounds like the transfer case where the switch is located, but they had no clue why it would effect the park sense. Take it in and tell them this info and maybe they will spread the word about the switch.
