3500 Ram Laramie 29 LTD Classic help

Uniden makes a similar one with a remote radio and mic controls. Midland makes on but the whole radio is in the mic.

Most are just installing GMRS radios these days.

I love this idea however, i have to be certified or Licensed on it?

Technically, you have to have a GMRS license. However, it's a fee only (no test) and while Congress has voted to reduce said fee from $70 to $35 2 years ago, it hasn't seemed to made it's way to the FCC website yet (last I checked). GMRS is a "family" license so anyone in your household is GTG under your license.

Sir. You know how money hungry the Fed is.... They ain’t gonna lower squat... instead it will go 75. - 140.

Just kidding... I will look into a GMRS license.

No drop in gmrs price but no bump from free for ham licensing.

Looking forward to the update chris !

I couldn’t find these screws at any of my locals stores in the thread that these two screws are in. This is why I asked. I will certainly look into your link. Thanks for providing:)

I bought these from Home Depot a while ago, and just went out to the garage and compared them to the factory ones. They screw in. They are available in different lengths also.

I was probably editing to add that Home Depot link the pic may show up now

Good afternoons all. I found replacement screws for the truck link was posted above.

I also cut 3/4 of an inch off the mount and reattached everything to that the mount rides flush in that cubby.

You will notice furniture pad under the left side of the mount incase the edge for some reason slaps the dash, I wanted to protect it.

I’ll take this mount back off and Res pray it to make it nice again.

With the mount secured with screws and lowered, there is no worries of it coming lose. Now I will attach “a wing nuts to the side thumb screws for ease of use.

Dude!

A+. Good work man.

Now, running all of the wiring through the dash and out the top through that little catch all the base of this mount is in.

Hard wiring the power and then I’m done.....

Thanks all who stopped in with me to comment through this project. It was fun for sure.

This is the part where I broke down and drilled a hole where the little insert pad would cover…..

I took a simple approach to it. Took me about 5 minutes and its been pretty solid even when I run a larger radio like my hr2510.

Only hr2510 I could find was a huge president. But it looks nothing like that. What brand is that thing ?

My interest is peaked again after recently indulging in some background YouTube 11m learning. Few good channels out there.

That is a Anytone 6666. I used my 2510 until just recently.
