35 x 12.50 x 17 Wheel Width Question

Good Morning Everyone! I'm new here, this is my first post. I have a 16' Power Wagon w/ factory suspension. I'm due for new tires and looking at going with a 35 x 12.5 x 17 to give the truck a more aggressive stance. I currently have AEV 8.5" Salta's but I'm considering going with AEV 10" Kalta's to simply to add more of an wider stance. Does anyone have experience with a 10" wheel in a similar configuration? I'm curious to see if I will get any rubbing or if this will even help achieve the "more aggressive" look? I do not want any rubbing and I'm not willing to trim, any advice is greatly appreciated!

I live in NW Montana so the truck sees a lot of old logging roads and gravel roads (lots of snow & Ice too, but I have dedicated studded winter tires). I'm considering Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT's as a tire choice, but feel free to weigh in on that as well if you'd like.

And because we all like to show off a bit, I've attached a picture of the truck!

You should be good. Just check the specs on your tires to see if they can work with a 10" wheel width. You should not have any rubbing issues, but do not quote me on that.

pretty sure the AEV 17x10 is for use with AEV high mark wheel flares. you will be about 1.75" out further with the -15.6 offset compared to your +27mm offset.
Are you running 8.5" Saltas on your truck? I'm also wondering if going to a 10" would give the tire more tread width?

I think if you are looking for a better fit, without trimming, i would stick with the 8.5 inchers.

I did a lot of research on this topic recently. I have Black Rhino Arsenal 17" x 9.5" -18mm offset rims with 35" x 12.5" MT tires that I am installing tomorrow. From my research, I think you will be clear from rubbing with 35's, from what I found, 37's are where the "kissing" begins. I will have them installed tomorrow and I will let you know brotha!

I think I know the look you are going for, I like my tires to be a bit aggressive and stick out of the wheel well a bit more than stock with a wider stance. I'd go after a rim with a negative offset. +44mm is the stock offset on the 22' power wagon rims (id imagine the 16' is similar). I am installing a -18mm which would take the stock position of the tire out of the wheel well by about 2" or so (mine will be right past the "legal" limit) look up an offset calculator on google and play around with it to see what you want it to look like. I will send you a picture of my tires and rims installed for reference.

I had those Mickey Thompsons on my 1500 chevy and my first set on my 19' duramax. I loved that tire, you cant go wrong. I like the aggressive look of an MT tire, but if you want to stay AT, those were awesome tires.

I am in Western ND. Nice to see a neighbor!

Update*

Would love to tell you how the rims and tires fit, but CarID.com is the absolute worst entity to utilize for purchasing anything. This is the third time, and I learned my lesson now, that they simply “forgot” to send the 4th rim. When I get my last time, I’ll have it all installed and let you know.

Of course I couldn't track down any Baja Boss A/T's and my studded winter tires have to come off, so I pulled the trigger on the Baja MT's in a 315/70/17E this morning. It's not ideally what I wanted but will be just fine I'm sure. I took your advice and didn't go with a 10" wheel.... I ordered Mickey Thompson Classic III's in a 17x9. With a 0 offset, I think this will still give me that wider look I want and protect the truck from gravel outside the fender flare. I'll be sure to send pictures when I get them mounted. Thanks again guys!

I installed the tires and wheels yesterday, they look great and the wheels achieved the exact look I was wanting Already got a few thumbs up while driving through town! ! I did have to trim the wheel well liner a little as well as my mud flaps but not a big deal. I'm getting an alignment this afternoon before putting miles on.

Haha. Yeah zero offset definitely doesn’t keep them under the flares.
