In the words of our rapper friend Tyga “too much rim make da ride too hard” I choose 18” because of the look. My Denali had 20’s and it rode just fine. I'm working on a similar decision, have stock 285/60-20 and wondering whether to go up to 285/65-20.
As I look over several of the tire and wheel threads, I see that most people seem to go with 18's. I know in the old days the thought was that the higher sidewalls gave a better ride and towed better, but I thought that over the past 10-15 years tires had improved to the point that there was very little functional difference, beyond off road performance. So I'm wondering, do people go with 18's more because of the look or for other reasons?

Best of my knowledge the wheels are 20x8" and they'll fit no problem. I'm running that size on my stock 20x8 limited wheels.can anyone confirm if a 275/65R20 tire will fit properly on the stock 20" night edition wheels/rims on Ram 2500? looking for some more side wall rubber and found a set of tires i want to try. hopefully going from 11.2 to 10.8 is not that big of a difference on the width.
I see you have “regular” mudflaps like me and not kick backs. Do your front tires rub on the mudflaps at all?I'm running the Cooper AT3 XLT in 285-65 20. It is a AT Tire but handle nice.View attachment 35475
wow, that is a gorgeous truck! I love the 1" level and the wheel/tire combo. I have the same wheels but not the ram boxes (wish I did!). I installed the Carli 2.5" level with the King shocks, it's too high in the front for me... Currently running 275/65r20 BFG KO2's, can't wait to get some bigger tires285/65R20 Falken Wildpeak AT3w towing 7K and stable as a rock. Nothing for this truck in fact I don't notice it most time. 15K on truck now and 11K is towing.
