I’ve been googling around out of curiosity to learn the difference in build or suspension etc between 2500/3500. How do these trucks differ? Assuming the same engine and options? For instance a Cummins, tradesman, crew cab long bed, no air suspension- what engineering/build differences are there making the 3500 more heavy duty or ability for larger payload?

it used to be the only difference was leaf springs vs coil but a lot has changed in the 2019 that makes the 3500 differ. it is true the 3500 has leaf springs while the 2500 has coil springs but there are other differences. First of all the 3500 srw an drw have an AAM 12 and the 2500 has an aam 11.5. The HO cummins is only available on the 3500 and the HO model has a lot of upgrades within the engine that the standard output engine doesn't have. it is not just a tune like it was in previous years. The 3500 is also available with a Aisin trans, but that was always an option.
