2500 Option/Price Comparison

PPF is your friend on the body colored bumpers.

Yes, I have PPF on the front of my car, but spending an egregious amount for the front of the truck wasn't palatable. My other concern was the rear bumper getting beat up because truck.

Towing tech gets you the 360 camera view. Had it in my SUV and never used it. But these trucks are big, and it makes a big difference it tight spaces. Both of these big horns are more expensive than my Laramie. The pricing gets funny when you get to the top of the Big Horn range because so many of the Big Horn options are standard. My truck has towing tech, 4.10, L1, and trailer TPS for just over $58k sticker.

I have been sticking with the Bighorn because I have found in a couple past trucks I've owned that the leather seats were not very comfortable. The one truck it was actually a combination of leather and vinyl and not much cushion and the other one the leather was just hard and uncomfortable. It seems cloth seats are more comfortable. Now my wife leases a Hyundai Santa Fe and the leather seats in it are not too bad. So how would you rate the comfort/durability of the leather seats in a Laramie?

Personally, I prefer cloth over leather. Asking for people to provide their opinion of a seat material may not be of much benefit due to personal likes/dis-likes. My advise is to go to the dealer and personally check out your interior options. The Lariat is handsome and worth the money, but just didn't fit my personal needs. I'm in Southern Arizona, so the only leather that I could stand must be ventilated (like my KIA Sorrento SLX).

Also, IMHO, the 2500 Big Horn is so much better than the XLT or GM non-leather interiors. I wasn't impressed when I checked out Ford/GM before ordering the RAM.

Really recommend going with the 4.10. Also, have you considered ordering and getting EXACTLY what you want. You can still negotiate, a sale is a sale. As you know there are many dealers. If one doesn't want to play ball go to another.

Thanks! I can understand your need for ventilated seats with leather. I was stationed at Holloman AFB in southern New Mexico for 4 years and it definitely gets warm.

I have considered ordering, but I would like to get something done within the next couple of weeks. It really isn't much of a problem finding a truck that fits what I need but I keep adding to my "wants" list. So now it is a matter of being reasonable with the "wants" so I don't blow up my pricing too much.:)

I like the Laramie seats. The 750 mile drive home from the dealer was great. No complaints. I have had a ton of cars with both leather and cloth. Leather smells great, looks great, and cleans up easy. Cloth is warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, and usually cheaper. A lot of cloth's advantages disappear with the heated/ventilated seats. I have had some over 100 degree days and the remote start turning on the ventilated seats has been awesome. I was pretty into the cloth and was just about to order a Big Horn but am super glad I went with the Laramie. Its not just the seats, its a lot of little things, trim, LED's that make it feel like a luxury car when I open the door. That being said, if you aren't into that stuff and prefer cloth, get the Big Horn. Its a great truck.

If you are in a hurry and don't want to wait until end of the year with an order, widen your search and consider shipping, maybe? I became an Autotrader ninja to find my truck. The window sticker lookup tool is so awesome for this. Wish every manufacturer did this. When I bought my Alfa Romeo, it was the only way to find what I wanted. The dealers were terrible for telling you what options the car actually had on their website. But the VIN lookup tells no lies. I think the Japanese manufacturers have it right with the lack of options. There are like 5 packages. Makes it so much easier to find what you want. Although, you do get stuck with things you don't want to get the things you do.
