2500 Option/Price Comparison

Hey Yall. I am contemplating a couple different 2500s that fit most of my needs/wants. Below is a price and feature comparison of the two. Dealer one has discounted his price 5K and dealer two about 7500. The first truck has a couple of extra options (Tow Tech and LED lights) whereas truck #2 has NAV and a couple other items. You will notice a difference in rear ends as well. Even though the first truck has some more expensive options, I still think the dealer can come down more on his price. I am leaning towards the first truck but do yall think the NAV is a must have or, should I say the heck with the NAV and lean to the Tow Tech Package and LED headlights? And, what do yall think a fair price would be for the first truck (52K)?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I use Waze and like it. Had NAV in my last truck as well as our Sorento. Prefer Waze over both factory NAV units. The LED headlights are very good (much better than standard headlights). I have 3.73, but would get 4.10 if doing it again. Pricing depends on area of country and local/regional inventory. Also, I prefer silver over black...it's your call. I had ONE black vehicle and will never do that again. Good luck!

Invoice less full holdback less $500.

That's the general rule. If you can do better, great.

If I was shopping that segment, I wouldn't let NAV stop me for the right deal. They don't work in motion anyway. Android Auto or (gasp) Car Play and the phone NAV/GMAPS/Waze.

I wouldn't buy a gasser without the 4.10 rear. +2 your tires and you're in the 3.92 area.

Thanks for the response! I have never used Waze; most of the time I know where I am going. But, we plan on getting a camper, so some form of NAV help may come in handy. I have heard the LED lights are nice. I know the headlights on my F150 are not very good at all IMO.

Thank you sir, I appreciate it. I am afraid I don't know anything about holdback and knowing how to find out what it is. Do you mind a quick explanation.

LED lights are a must have for me on these ram trucks...the regular lights are horrible. Towing tech group is also nice to have.
Nav is ok if it’s on the truck you want but it is not good enough to be a deciding factor...especially when you have car play and can use the mapping on your phone on the tricks screen.

Make the dealer show you the invoice sheet. the real sheet, not some made up BS.

On it will be the MSRP, invoice, dealer holdback, and employee pricing.

I would take the more expensive truck. The LED headlights are a must have. Is this not a Laramie? When I bought mine the price difference from a well optioned Big Horn was so minor it almost seemed silly to not get a Laramie.

Like others have said factory Nav kind of sucks. I'll use it once and awhile because it takes up the whole 12" compared to Android Auto but it isn't even close in capability and accuracy. Takes me on too many dumb routes.

Edit: I didn't see you mention engine. If we're talking $55k-ish that Big Horn better have a Cummins in it.

That is the way I am leaning. I think the Tow Tech and LED lights would be more useful. No sir, it is a Bighorn with the 6.4. The level 2 package, Tow Tech Package, Night Edition and Offroad package add about 11k to the base price. I have never been a huge fan of leather, so I figured I would stay with a Bighorn..

I guess I don't understand how the L2 group doesn't have NAV? I don't see that as a selectable option on any of the build & price.

P.S. If you have the VIN, you can get the build sheet and window sticker here: https://hdrams.com/forum/index.php?threads/build-codes-build-sheet-monroney-window-sticker.2518/

Thank you sir, very much appreciated!! I have never seen an invoice. I assume they are usually pretty reluctant to share?

Should not be if they're being honest with you.

I've done all my deals with a fleet or sales manager, never directly with some junior sales person. If the dealer won't play, I find one that will. The junior sales will usually only get a "mini" commission if they're just your handler.

here is a copy of the window sticker

Well, lets try that again. With the Bighorn anyways, for $795, you can order the 8.4 wth NAV as a separate option but it is not part of the level 2 package.

Looks well optioned, I wouldn't' let the lack of NAV hold you back.

Due to the road conditions here, I'm not a fan of painted bumpers, but if they had that Night Edition when I ordered my 3500, I would have been all over it.

Thanks for all of the info!! I have never done the painted bumper thing myself but The Silver Night Edition does look sharp.

PPF is your friend on the body colored bumpers.
