2500 Kelderman Rear Coil Replacement / Wireless autolevel options

Gents,

I'd like to get more payload out of my 2020 2500 limited - right now it's 1855lbs. If I load my airstream the way I want to, it will weigh close to 10k with ~1200lb tongue weight. Add generators, kayaks, a family of 3 with 2 dogs, diamondback HD cover, bikes, etc and we're getting too close to the payload rating. I got it - should have went with the 1 ton but I could not find the one I wanted with anywhere near the discount I got this one for. It's a 70 mile/day DD and I love the ride I get with the coils.

Kelderman claims this kit will "effectively double the payload rating on a 2500 coil spring equipped truck." After doing alot of research on the differences between a 3500 SRW and my 2500, and also the differences between this full replacement vs others' helper bags, I think this is probably an accurate statement. What say the folks who have alot more experience than I with these trucks' suspensions?

Does anyone have any experience they can share about Kelderman's replacement coils?

I would like to get a wireless auto level with a compressor/tank that is robust enough to also fill my truck/trailer tires and possibly (limited) airtools. It seems like the wireless w/ compressor kits I've seen do not look robust enough to provide enough air for anything but the bags. I'm thinking I may need to buy a wireless autolevel kit and source my own compressor/tank. I could be wrong, can y'all give me options? Thank you.
 
we installed that kit on my friends '19 limited. he used the airlift wireless kit with the compressor. it is a really nice piece of kit.
 
yah you could. you'd need a chuck installed somewhere. he only uses it for the bags so we didn't install one.
 
why not use the kelderman compressor kit? With the tank it comes with you should be able to do what you want with it
 
I can’t speak to what those will or won’t do to help out, but my 30’ Airstream at 8800 GVW has a tongue weight of 1200. If you’ve got a Classic with a 10k GVW you’ll probably end up even higher.
 
I called Kelderman and they told me their kits with tanks can't be plumbed to also run an external air line because of how the tank integrates with the manifold.

I had a really nice hour long conversation with Timber Grove owner Steve. I am definitely going with his airbags, as they are rated to 8k lbs and he provides outstanding customer service. He does have an external air option with his auto level kit, but his air control systems are very expensive and the compressor is not well suited for other uses. His auto level kit is single path, and can only dump (for another $500) or go level. I'd like more adjustability so the auto level doesn't work against my hitch's weight distribution system.

The airlift wireless gen 2 looks promising, however there was a 33 person wait to ask them if you could add a tank and external air. I'm starting to wonder if I could just buy their manifold, controller, hardware and wiring and source my own compressor and tank.
 
Do you really need OBA that bad? Millwaukee has a cordless air compressor now that would be a great solution to just throw in the truck when needed, i will be picking one up to have with me when i pick up cars/trucks on the flat deck or for towing the 5th wheel camper

Thank you for the heads up, I definitely need to beef up the rear suspension. Is your tongue weight typical for a '20 international 30RB? Maybe those LiFePo4's are under the lounge?

It's not about what is needed, it's about what is convenient if I already have an on board compressor to run the bags that give me the payload to use the truck as I want.

Yes but an onboard leveling compressor is not designed to run much cfm to use air tools if you want a capable compressor to keep onboard and may work with the leveling check out the ARB compressors i have a friend with one in his jeep

From what I’ve been told by others on Airforums that’s not far from normal. I do have 6 LifePo4s and my inverter and solar controller under the front lounge, but I also removed the 2 lead acid batteries from the tongue box, so there’s not that much actual tongue weight change. I do usually tow with a full fresh water tank though, so that definitely contributes some.
 
I figured out what direction I'm going to go. Timber Grove CRM factory rake airbags arrive tomorrow. ARB twin in the rear cabin bin. Pacbrake wireless controller (works with any OBA setup) on the frame rail beside the bin. OBA QD and airbag schrader valves on the rear license plate bracket. No tank.

Did you end up installing this system? Any pictures of where you installed the components and how it's impacted your towing?
 
I am also curious how this system is working for you. I would like to use my 3/4 ton truck as a 3/4 ton truck not a 1/2 ton. It is quite pathetic the suspensions and payload ratings on these trucks.

I posted this a couple months back. When researching the on board air options, I originally thought the timber grove auto leveling kit was too expensive. I began looking at the components individually and came to the conclusion that I was paying extra for the assembled kit that's bolt in ready, and the well designed mounting brackets. The auto level function has been great. I was able to fine tune the ride height for a near perfect hitch height. I use the husky centerline wdh on a very light setting and it tows great.

I'm currently driving cross country with a loaded truck pulling a 6k travel trailer with about 800 lbs tongue weight. There's just over 10k on the truck axles, and it feels like the trailer isn't back there.
