Hi - working on a couple quotes on a '22 2500 4x4 with Granger in Iowa (who has been super responsive and helpful) - using the Ram "build and price" website every thing shows 3.73 as the rear axle, even when making the change from the Hemi to Cummins.

In fact, there is no mention of 3.42 on the Ram build and price website - and the quotes from Granger continue to show 3.73 on the order sheet. Maybe I missed it elsewhere, but did the 3.42 go away?

Thanks!

On a 3500, if you choose 4.10 then either Dual or Hemi is forced.

I was wrong about Max Tow, not a requirement that I see but Max Tow selection pushes it to HO and HO 4.10 I believe forces max Tow.

You won’t like 4.10’s if you run on highway a lot.

That depends on where you live. In my area running the 4.10 rear, I can't even hold high gear at 55 mph due to rolling hills without the transmission downshifting. Having a higher ratio just makes it worse. Think I'm at around 1500 RPMs at 55 mph with the 4.10's. That bogs when coming to a hill. A higher ratio puts the RPM's even lower.

Drive a DRW with the stock tire size and 4.10's, you are running 2100ish rpm at 70 mph. My 3.73 and 35's are running about 1600 at 70 mph.

They ditched the 3.42 at the start if the 19s and if you are going with a cummins the 3.73 is the way to go unless you need the max tow for 30k+ towing
