2026 HD Drive Train Availability

Mine is the same age as yours. I only have 26K on mine but I do pull a heavy fifth wheel. I put around 6K a year on it and almost 70 percent is towing miles. Apart from a bunch of recalls, the truck has been trouble free and runs and sounds great. However a recent oil analysis gives me pause and I think it is time to move on.

Maybe I'll send my next oil change off for analysis. Sounds like they found some metals in yours?

My truck is also almost exclusively used for towing.

Well, good for you young man! :)

I watch all of these "ticking" lifter and pushrod threads and it does give me concern. I'd be lying if I said I've not considered a new truck with the 8 speed.

My worry is I don't drive my truck enough for these issues to surface. I only have 31k miles on it after almost 5 years (she'll be 5 years old in March).

That being said, mine has been absolutely trouble free, literally 0 issues. *knocks on wood.
The '25 with the 8 speed is a huge upgrade, but dont the '25 use hydraulic lifters also?

How is the pedal lag? Im sure your '19 and '16 had pedal lag to protect the trans.

Im wondering how bad the lag is on the new trucks with the 8 speed.

Yes, the new trucks also use what have said to be the exact same lifters. I think the problem with the 19-24's is with the oiling on the top side where the rocker meets the pushrod.

I compared the part numbers through Cummins and they are exactly the same PN lifter. I think you're probably right about not only the rocker oiling, but with the block going back to grey iron, they've probably worked out the lifter bore issue.
