Hi Everyone, I am in the market for a 2500 Cummins.I found a good deal on 2025 that has 300 miles.This vehicle was marketed down due to hail damage.It was sent back to the factory to be fixed.However,the vehicle was run out of fuel,apparently on the lot.Even with the factory warranty,should this scream red flags?Thanks

Hard pass for me.
I wouldn’t want a truck full of Bondo, which is usually the method used for fixing hail damage. Sometimes the dents can be popped out though.

Hogwash, BONDO is rarely used for hail damage repair these days unless it a shade tree redneck doing it in their yard. How do I know? My 21 went through golf ball size hail 3 mos. After I bought it. All the dents, except the hood were done PDR. Hood was replaced. I would absolutely deal on this truck, if I were in the market.

Assuming the hail damage was fixed correctly (no bondo), and it does NOT have a salvage title and still has the full Factory warranty--I say talk to them. Especially when you consider 24% off MSRP (without making an offer). For example, if the MSRP price is $75K minus 24%=$57,000. Hit them at $55K out the door.
The running out of diesel issue: that is not good but is not that big a deal.. Every new truck I have test driven is always low on fuel.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING goes back to the “ FACTORY “ either it’s repaired by, Paintless Dent Repair ( PDR ) or at a body shop. I waited just shy of 8 months for my 2022 Ram 3500 after I ordered it. When it FINALLY showed up it had some dings and scratches, hit the dealer right between the eyes.!! Either fix it, or your STUCK WITH A 2WD truck in the north east and I want some money back!!!! I purchased the truck at $2000 UNDER INVOICE, and got them to pull another $2500 off!!! Till this day, this BLACK BEAUTY is LAZER STRAIGHT!!!

The hail damage, and “sent back to the factory” is a know hail damage event in Saltillo where the trucks are built. After they’re built, they are “shipped to storage”, which is technically on the factory property, but they will call it “shipped back to factory” for repairs for events like this. There are probably 2025 owners that have had this hail damage, and have no idea it happened to their truck. Basically, that’s up to you to inspect all the panels, and if you can’t tell any hail damage happened, then no big deal, It’s up to you if you want it.
As far as the ran out of fuel, absolutely no issue there. It happens, it sets that fault, you put fuel in, run the priming procedure as if you changed the fuel filters, be on your way, and the fault will take care of itself.

Thank you Jimmy07 for pointing this out. The fuel filter changes should have been painfully obvious for everyone. Bottom line, I want to hear how good of a deal acm85 gets. Let’s also not forget, trucks are only “perfect” sitting on the lot once….life happens, first boo boo is the worst, but we get over it.

MacksRam hit the nail on the head here. I looked at one of these hail damaged trucks in Illinois when I bought my 2026 Rebel. It was a crazy good deal and we nearly went through with it until I discovered that the truck would have had a branded title here in PA. Not sure if every state is the same on this issue, but because the truck was involved in an insurance loss due to the hail damage, it was sold at wholesale dealer auction and would have received a brand (most likely salvage due to the monetary value of the claim). The other thing to consider is that because it was sold at auction, it is no longer considered a "new" vehicle.
