Has anyone here modified their 2025?

I am in the process of installing the factory Mopar power side steps. The installation went fairly smoothly and I have everything installed.

The steps do not work at all. I tried to find the Security Gateway Module and it is not where it is listed in the dealer library. I was thinking that the new step module and BCM needed to be programmed for the step addition, but I'm not having any luck right now.

So far the only thing that is different is the odometer flashes, indicating some sort of CANBUS error or module sync error. The steps do not move at all.

Has anyone done something like this on a 2025?

Is the power side step module for a '25? I doubt the '24 and older modules will work because of the canbus change for '25.
You will need to change settings in the bcm to tell it the step module is present and to enable customer set features to appear in the radio

What part number is on the side step module?
'24 and earlier is 68367399AF, I don't know what the '25 number is.
@Jimmy07 may have more knowledge on this if he responds.

You need to have the dealer flash the sales code to the truck, and have the proxy alignment performed. The odometer is flashing because the proxy alignment isn’t done, and the truck doesn’t know what the new module is yet.

Looks like you are correct. I found another page in the installation manual and it says the same thing. It says they will not be operational until the proxi alignment and PSSM ECU reset. Then you must drive over 16km/hr before they become operational.

from the manual sheet I found:

PSSM Programming

Please perform the following steps when the Power Side Steps Module has been replaced:
1. Connect the diagnostic scan tool to the vehicle.
2. Perform the vehicle PROXI Alignment procedure.
3. Navigate to "Guided Diagnostics" and perform an ECU reset on the PSSM
4. While in the PSSM menu, enable/configure the PSSM function
5. After enabling the running boards in the PSSM, the vehicle must be driven to a minimum of 16km/hr before the running boards will become operational.

Got it worked out yesterday.

2025 is a whole different can of worms with PROXI system.

The canbus is locked down and the Mopar power steps I installed wouldn’t function until programmed. Here is the last page in the installation manual.

These trucks do not have a gateway module in traditional places. They also don’t have star connectors like they used to.

In the PROXI format, all modules have to communicate and agree. Alfaobd will not work, nor JSCAN from what I see.

Here was the resolution:

1. Dealership has to log into dealer connect and request the power step RPO be added to the BCM file for the vin.

2. Next, a technician performs a “PROXI alignment.” This is uploading the new BCM file to the truck’s BCM via the Mopar Pod/witch interface dongle. It also syncs all vehicle modules together in harmony.

3. The truck sits about 20 mins while the BCM does its thing and then recognizes its internal RPO code for the side steps. At this point, the steps icon shows up on the dash, but is greyed out and non functional.

4. A second PROXI alignment is performed now that the BCM knows to look for the new side step module that was installed with the steps. This configures the new step module and again harmonizes all modules in the truck.

5. Last step is to drive the truck over 16km/hr. As soon as you hit that speed, the step icon on Uconnect flashes blue and you are done. The steps are now fully functional like factory.

I lucked out and I’m friends with the local dealership crew being as my business specializes in Hemi engines. My neighbor is also the diesel tech there. He brought his pod home and set it up for me.

I have the opposite problem. I removed my power steps from a 2022 Ram. The computer thinks they are still there but that they need to be repaired. I keep getting a dash warning "Power sides steps need servicing" when ever I stop at a traffic light, stop sign, or just because I wanna..........

Does anyone know where I can get a jumper that I can plug in to where the step motors would plug in to keep the connections safe from the elements and give feed back to the computer that is mad at me?

Hello. I just purchased the powersteps part # 82216513AA and I have a 2500 2024 model year. I performed 99 percent of the install expect for the last two wires that get pinned into the BCM module. PIN 32 (WHT) and 33 (DB/WT) The picture for the BCM in the instructions is for a 2025 model year. Does anyone know where the two wires go into the on the 2024 BCM harness. I had truck at dealer for three days and they didnt figure it out. I know I have to return to dealer once completed for final uconnect program. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks

That kit is technically only for 2025-2026, even though some sites say it’s for 2024. It’s for the new 2025+ canbus architecture, which is why you can’t find the spot for those two communication wires.

If it has any chance of working on your 2024 truck, you’ll need to get the white two way connector pictured below, crimp on the correct terminals, and insert the DB/WH wire into position one, and the WH wire into position two.
Then, plug that white connector into any open spot on the single row canbus junction block behind the headlight switch (pic below, it’s the furthest back of the two, green with a white base).

Thank you for the quick response. I will get a pin and try this. Is there is a part for the 2 PIN connectors. Looks like blocks are easy to obtain but the pins not so much. Regardless I will update post once I try this to let everyone know if it works.

White connector is TE Connectivity 2-2138650-1
The two terminals for it are TE Connectivity 5-963715-1

How much were the steps?

I have a different year truck but AMP steps work for me. Probably cheaper than OEM too.

Steps were $2160. The modification to make them operate did not work. Now have to start the process to see if Mopar will take them back.
