2024 Winch

Still no factory wireless it appears? Have to add that to a 2025 when ordered. Cannot believe they do not have a wireless controller from the factory.
Its better to have the wired one from factory. I know it sounds counter productive but in my experience with my Polaris Ranger that only came with the factory wireless and no hookup for a remote its a PITA since I had to hardwire a switch to have a backup incase the wireless failed.

I would guess RAM would do something silly like that too instead of a plug in wireless receiver like the warn setup. So at least if you have a wireless setup for your 18 you can just plug it in to the new truck assuming you have the plug in wireless receiver.

Ineos gives you both, just in case. But I use the wireless exclusively. So much easier when doing recoveries. I have done a number of recoveries while running heavy equipment and using the wireless remote at the same time. Not doing that with a cord. Unfortunately the 2018 winch is a completely different winch, looks like a totally different wireless. Will have to order a new one.

To further derail this string, should I be planning to take my white knuckle sliders to the new truck, or try out the Mopar factory ones?

I would not want wireless unless the winch has provision for both and even then, probably wouldn’t use wireless. Keep it simple, afaic.

Yea the only time I would care for the wireless is when I am doing something sketchy and need to get out of the way, although it is very nice when respooling the winch

Wow that's crazy, I have not used a wired remote since the 90s maybe? Dragging a winch rope up a hill, re-spooling solo, complex winching operations laying out snatch blocks, being in another vehicle while you winch, being able to speak to the person you are winching out next to there window to give them guidance.....

Dragging the rope or setting up snatch blocks I just use free spool and we have walkie talkies/CBs when wheeling. Different strokes for each I guess but. If they supply a wireless they should supply a wired connection too as backup

Free spooling is rough, I have rarely ever had a drum free spool well. I agree for a wired back up. Although they are fairly reliable, you need both to be safe, and most systems come that way.

Mine is wireless or wired, best of both worlds. Although you do have to plug it in to charge it.

As an update: I went to the dealer today, they agreed that it should not be this difficult/impossible to turn. Stated that they did not have any way to fix in their repair shop so will order new unit. They did caution that it was a special item and might take awhile.
Hello, I am a new member and have a relatively new < 6000 miles 2024 Power Wagon. I have the same winch clutch lever issue right from delivery - The lever is difficult if not impossible to turn without abusing it. I brought it back to the dealer for replacement and they discovered another new 2024 PW had the same problem and the brand new replacement was the same way. So now I am in RAM Customer Care Hell trying to get this issue taken care of. I also reached out to WARN they responded the first time to my email question as to if this condition (difficult to turn clutch lever) was normal they said absolutely not. They have not responded to my second email where I stated another new PW had the same issue and the replacement for my PW has the same issue. Not easy to find on the WARN website is a page that states the RAM PW winch is made to RAM specs but used their latest technology and the winch in the PW doesn't carry a WARN retail catalog number. I love everything else about my Power Wagon. Other than RAM Customer Care not sure what else to do. And I have tried running out a length of rope and that didn't help. Today I have been on RAM Customer Care Hold for 5 hours 15 minutes. I have read through all of posts about this issue. Any other ideas? Any help would be appreciated. Thx

The PW winch is exactly a Warn Zeon 12-S with a longer clutch lever and a Ram sticker. It’s only available through Ram though, so Warn won’t help you with it at all.

Wired is fine imo. I run the cord up the hood under the wiper and into the driver door. IMO it’s only extenuating circumstances where I wouldn’t want to be in the drivers seat, being able to have the truck in neutral or in gear and being. Even recovering another vehicle, I don’t want my truck in park (then winch load goes into transmission park pawl).
Wireless sounds convenient but I feel wired reduces risk of it accidentally activating which could put someone at risk

Wireless is totally the way to go, and no it wont be accidentally activated. However, I want to harp on what el Barto said. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER winching from the cab with a manual remote with out running the cord through the wiper. I can vouch for that after being stranded, messing around with a winch on a 1990 Montero, hooked to a tree up a cliff....the cord got sucked in and the winch ran hard until I had a dead battery. Next up was a hike to town to charge the battery, yes CARRYING a battery...Ahh, youth, so much fun :D

Given the number of people having problems with their winch I am wondering if this could turn into some kind of recall.

The Warn wireless remote kit is like $250 and just plugs in. Have it both ways if you want it.
For my 2022 PW I got the Warn remote and indeed it is plug & play with a few limitations.
- range is about 30’ … sometimes problematic
- times out and disconnects after a minute … repeatedly reconnecting gets annoying
- doesn’t work from inside the truck (presumably too much metal blocking the RF signal)
Nice to have both options

Yeah…no, prefer a controller that works reliably and full time.

I've got a different question about the clutch lever on a 2024 PW winch: I can engage and disengage the clutch - its a little stiff, but it works fine. However, when I move the lever, the connection to the winch feels sort of loose - and there is a little play in that connection. Does that seem normal to folks or should the clutch lever attachment be rock solid?
