2024 vs 2025 Lane assist

I saw the naming convention has changed from "Lane assist" to "Active driving assist". Is there any improvement to the lane steering? It seems like in 2024 it would just nudge you if you started drifting out of the lane. It did not do active lane centering. Is 2025 the same thing or does it keep you centered in the lane?

I've been trying to find this online, where are you getting the info from?

Hands free I would like to try, maybe even adaptive cruise, but lane centering we have on 2 work vehicles, and its really not that helpful in the real world. One of our vehicles moves the vehicle which is ok, the other simply vibrates and that is just trash for sure.

We bought a new 2021 Hyundai Tucson a few years ago and its equipped with "lane keep assist". After about 50 miles of driving with it on, we turned it off and it hasn't been turned back on since. Wife and I both find it distracting and unhelpful. I'll drive the car myself, thank you.
I agree.
Having held a steering wheel for approx 3 million miles, lane assist is for the mentally challenged commuter.
You have one job when driving, and that is...... you guessed it, DRIVING.

Here is my opinion on "adaptive cruise control"
Interstate travel, it is junk. Like I said in my previous post, you have ONE job when driving. I use cruise control mainly to stay at a certain pace. Fuel mileage is the primary goal.
It does also help a bit mentally and physically. Set it and you can stretch your right leg out a bit. Mentally, you dont have to worry about LEO granting you driving awards.

Adaptive cruise on limited access roads (Interstates) will get on the brakes at a good distance from the slower traffic in front of you. I hate breaking cruise, so I will time my passes where I can leave the cruise on.
A-CC will also make you mentally lazy and you will suffer from HGPS (hypnotic gas pedal syndrome) and end up zoned out on which ever slow driver in front of you.

Now, A-CC is fantastic in very slow and variable rolling traffic. I enjoyed having it on my Kias for this very reason. I did not have to worry about the idiots who think the pedals are either 100% to the floor or zero.
I used to have to go into downtown DFW a couple times a week (office crap) and it was great. I would set the cruise at 5 over and let A-CC do all the slowing and speeding up. Made the frustration of morons more bearable.
It did OK on surface streets, but once you hit the brakes, you had to reset cruise control, but still was neat to do.
Yes, I use cruise as much as possible.... even in the slow zones. I love going fast, but my DL and wallet are not on the same page.

I used lane centering and ACC for the first time on a 2025 Audi A5 I rented. And it worked surprisingly well. Dang thing drove itself pretty much while on the highway. Even did lane changes when I turned the turn signal on. I was impressed.

As someone who drives more than just about anyone who isn’t a professional driver, I love adaptive cruise and lane-centering (when well implemented). I’m quite capable of driving a vehicle with no driving aids, and did it for a long time before those existed. Having ACC (and lane centering) makes a huge difference to how tired I am after a long day on the road.

Does not seem like Ram is up to that level yet unfortunately. Feels like self driving tech is one thing Ram gets spanked on by competitors.

Ya all can keep that self driving junk, I had lane assist and lane center on the wife's 2021 Highlander that could not be turned off, I hated it and was damm glad, no make that very happy when I got rid of it last month for a car that does not have that junk...

I've had my Tesla for 3 years now and am used to that level of self driving. There's no way I would trust what Ram uses for a 3/4 truck. The Wife's Explorer ST has blue cruise which is almost as good as the Tesla but only works on Interstates. Don't know why the Big three can't get this technology down yet.

I actually like it on interstates, too. I usually move to the passing lane before the truck starts to slow down, and if it happens that there's traffic on the left, the moment I set the indicator to change lanes it starts to accelerate to the set speed.
Plus, the nice thing about it, the truck also has a conventional cruise control.
On our Volkswagen a few years back, that only had the adaptive one, so there was no option to use a non-smart CC.
