Anyone run into axel issues in the 2024 2500HD? Just bought one last Friday, picked it up, and started having grinding noise/"service 4wd" error message. Took it to the dealer, they called today and said it needs an new front axel. The truck has 207 miles on it. EXTREMELY frustrated.

id chock it up to sh*t happens. Could have been a faulty bearing from OEM. Or even no gear oil in the differential i have seen that with various parts on brand new vehicles even after the PDI a couple diffs and a couple transfer cases. Good thing you have warranty and they are replacing the complete axle not just repairing it

Which axel did they want to replace?

I guess my question should have been more direct. Do they want to replace the entire assembly, or one side or the other, and did they list a reason.
It would be the entire assembly if it was grinding, the inner/outer shafts don't really have a grinding noise unless a spline stripped

"Ya'll" lol. nice work... Well, this was actually my point. There have been several trucks where the splines were found to be a smaller O.D. and the tolerance between the two was causing this exact issue. So, there is that...I'm looking for info...kind of the basis of the thread.

Yall need to learn how to spell AXLE!
Maybe he's not from this country or from the "holler". I've worked overseas, Western Europe and the folks there do the English thing a bit different. Also was stationed with few "Country Boys" and they spelled tire with a Y = TYRE, and AXLE with the last two letters reversed. Never once did I have to scramble to try and understand what they meant. All sarcasm aside, your YALL needs an apostrophe.

i clearly struck a nerve. Lol

No nerve struck at all, you'd have to burn a lot more calories to get a rise out of me. Not sure if you saw the sarcasm part. I'm not aware if you can spell that word differently. Enjoy your day up in the bell-tower looking for something trivial to pounce on.

I prefer the Rogers tower

New aXLe assembly goes in next week, guess they didnt want to tear it apart.
They typically don't. There is a lot involved in rebuilding a differential correctly, and most of these "parts chuckers" at dealers aren't trained in diff rebuilds. So they just send new assembly's to be swapped in.

Yeah, shimming and preloading a pinion is an art. I dont blame them. Just sucks waiting 7 months for a repair... BUT theyve always given me a loaner, and atleast they acknowledged that theres an issue, and continue to try. im happy w that.
