2023 New Mirrors Conversion (Merged threads)

I’ve got the fully loaded 2023 mirrors swapped in on my truck, and to get everything to work, it all depends on how far you want to take things to get them to work like factory.
There’s a few ways you can go about doing it.

If you want the mirrors to function like factory, with utility lights and all, it’s quite a bit of work. You need the mirrors, 2023 door modules, mirror switch plus the main master door switch trim bezel (the telescoping mirror switch does not fit in the same trim bezel as the convex mirror switch), the 2023 memory seat module, a 2023 BCM, and a bunch of custom wiring to add all the missing circuits for the telescope and utility lights features.
Also, if you do it that way, swapping in the 2023 bcm is going to cause you to lose the use of the horn switch on the steering wheel and the left steering wheel buttons that control the instrument cluster. The horn itself will still sound off in all other situations (lock doors, remote start, etc), just not when you press the horn switch on the steering wheel. You would have to add a wire on the BCM and run it to a momentary aux switch that you can press to sound the horn. To get the left steering wheel switches working again, I had someone set up a man-in-the-middle module for me that remaps those buttons.

A different way to go about it is to install only the mirrors and 2023 door modules (plug n play). That’ll keep your surround view cameras working, and your power convex mirrors and power folding feature. You’ll have to manually extend the mirrors, and the utility lights won’t work, and you won’t be able to utilize the factory telescoping mirror switch cluster. You can make a couple changes with alfaobd and the auto fold feature will work.

Then, if you want to make them power telescope and make the utility lights work, you would basically have to put those functions on some auxiliary switches, using custom wiring and relays, and timer relays (I believe this is the route someone else in this thread went).
This thread is has been super informative. Thanks to you guys for sharing your experiences and input. I really appreciate it. I'm that close to pulling the trigger to make the switch but would love to have all the functions working with the swap. Jimmy07 would you be interested in building a harness with the necessary relays and switches to get the power extend/retract and the rear facing lights working? Of course I would be willing to compensate you for your time and supplies, sir.

I should have said 23 and up doors have reinforcements for the new mirrors. 22 and older trucks dont.
You’re telling me the engineers and assemblers at the factory didn’t just cut some extra material away like people on this forum did?!?!? :D

While we’re at it, is there a version with cameras but without the rear spotlights? They take away about 1.5” of convex mirror which would be much more useful to me than the spotlights.

A quirk I have found with the 23+ mirror/module combo is they will NOT power fold when moving. This may be a dealbreaker for some people. For me it is just a nuisance, but not a major problem. With the old mirrors, there was a section of my daily commute where I had to fold them in so they wouldn’t hit a bridge guardrail or hang out into oncoming traffic in the opposite lane. The new mirrors are just narrow enough that it’s not an issue. But it’s annoying when I pull up to the car wash and have to stop before I get to the kiosk to fold the mirrors in so they don’t hit the kiosk and other situations like that such as drive thrus, tight parking spots, tool booths, etc. First world problems, yeah yeah, I know. But it’s dumb programming. At least let them work below 15mph or something.

Edit: This is true of the 2023+ trucks with the complete native mirror/module/BCM/etc, not just the conversion.

Hey there! Just confirming, even WITHOUT the 23+ ECU change (just mirrors and door modules upgrades) they STILL auto-fold as in Original 23+ Trucks? Mine is a 22.

Correct. My truck is a 2019 with 2019 ECU. It has 23+ mirrors and 23+ door module, and the mirrors STILL auto-fold even though its a 2019 ECU.

These look great. Id be on these if they retained the power folding.

I had Boost mirrors on my last truck (Chevy Colorado), and have the boost heated convex mirrors on my PW. Quality stuff.

The no folding is a negative for sure.

Interesting I have Boost’s heated convex mirrors too.

The base level mirrors are manual folding, manual telescoping, with powered and heated main glass. Those should work fine as a retrofit.
In a tradesman that has just the powered and heated main glass is it known if the puddle light and running light / turn signal wiring is there? Without pulling the door panel off?
