What would cause my truck to think a trailer is connected if there is nothing hooked up

My truck is almost brand new. Has 3k miles. Connector looks like it’s never seen anything hooked into it yet. What else should I check?

Then there is a possible short in the trailer braking system making it see resistance.

My truck has done it twice. I recently took it in to the dealer for other issues but I told about this and they didn’t find anything wrong at the time.

2024 ram 3500 here. same thing happened and was told if im close to something for too long, it can make the truck think there may be something there. i back in to my spot at work and its agasint a wall and i generally take 5 minutes or so before i leave to check my phone so its possible that could be the reason. however it hasnt happened since and my truck had like 500 miles on it at the time. at 1400 now and it hasnt happened again.

Wondering if this is a software glitch? Few times I've unhooked my trailer and several miles down the road I get an alert saying my trailer is disconnected...like, thanks, if I didn't realize it by now! lol
