2022 tow specific navigation

If they switched to a satellite based service, you'd be fine in the wilderness. Ironically though, you'd likely have complaints from people in the city who would lose service when in tunnels, under bridges, or other such cover. You'd almost need to operate with Sat and cell to really have full coverage nearly everywhere. No doubt they'd jump the price tag way up for such things too.

The communication method has nothing to do with CarPlay and Android Auto, those are just features that let your phone connect to your car so you can see the screen. The AT&T hotspot features are also unrelated to either the phones or the assistance services

None of the auto services are satellite based nor have they ever been. They’ve always used cell connectivity for all of it outside of the GPS location.

If you want connectivity outside of “civilization” then you’ll need a sat phone, satellite communicatior (Spot, inReach, etc), or Starlink. Expect to pay $30-150 per month for one of these. I spend a lot of time in the wilderness and carry multiple satellite based options.

Also, if you have a semi-recent iPhone, it has satellite messaging for location and emergency built in to it.

Exactly. Nav works with satellites. Communication services (assist, and SOS) work by cellular. The only way to truly get full coverage everywhere though is to operate on both systems at once for everything.

Anyway, circling back on topic to tow-nav. If it's a Uconnect service (similar to assist) rather than a navigation service it's possible it wouldn't work if there's no cellular communication. I don't know how that particular system works. I've never used it since I pretty much only tow local (trailer full of dirt, boat to the local lake, etc). For those with campers though, who may be taking road trips with a large camper. That would be a huge perk. It could keep you off a twisty route, away from narrow roads, or low overhead. Brilliant... if it works.

Can you send a pic of your screen with the Towing Option?
Also you said it worked when got your “TTPMS installed” Is that the TPMS on the truck?

You're quoting me on a post I quoted, not the author of said post.
