This is my 4th van. In 1968 I bought a 1959 VW Panel delivery van, used as a donut shop delivery truck. Added a small desk behind the swivel driver's seat, fixed plywood bed in back, clothes rod and shelf in back on driver side. Drove it across the country and back, then sold it.
In 1994 a 1986 VW Westfalia. Lots of good trips all over the west coast and into Canada. Sold about 2006?
In ~2006 a 1990 Westfalia with automatic and Ford Focus engine conversion. Lots more good trips but very unreliable at the end and near impossible to get serviced with the conversion.
Sold about 2019 and vanless for two years.
2022 ordered a new silver RAM. Arrived 9 months later, then on waiting list for conversion in mid-2023 by GTRV of Sebastopol, CA.
Semi-custom design based on Westfalia layout: swivel front seats, kitchen behind driver seat with sink, stove top, frig, drawers, floor to ceiling cabinet behind that all the way to back door. Folding seat across back with seat belts, converts to "full" bed, 54x75". Storage and mechanicals under the bed. Fiamma top rack and awning. Vent and AC and solar panel and kayak racks on top.
