Has anyone deleted the resonator but kept the stock muffler on a Power Wagon? I put a MBRP cat back muffler system on mine,
but it was too much noise and drone in the cab for me. Put the stock set up back on but I hate the ugly resonator. Since I still have the MBRP tail pipe was thinking of just adding it to stock muffler and doing away with resonator. But don't want any drone. Any thoughts?

It's all in my build thread. First mod I did.
Love it. Sounds good at idle and when you get on it. Mild mannered at cruise and no drone.
Also gave me a chance to move the tail pipe up where it should be and out of the way. My exhaust guy just refused the pipe sections we cut off as his bender will not do 3 1/2" pipe.
Got 19K miles on it and still no issues or drone.

Thank you sir. Looks like I'll be heading back to the muffler shop.

I also took a page from Crustys build and removed mine. Once finished I removed the tail pipe and painted it with flat black high temp paint.

I guess maybe I need a build thread, I've posted what I did in another thread. I didn't do just a delete, but sharing what I did and the sound.

I went with dual magnaflow's and ended up with a magnaflow resonator also just before the dual exhaust inlet (the resonator is a dual in dual out, so a bit of an x-pipe) I get a touch of drone at ~1700 RPM on the highway (which is right where 8th gear wants to sit :?) I need to go back and and see about adding a J-Pipe to kill the drone. IMO, Sounds great on cold start. Warm idle you notice it's got something, but barely. Getting on it is fun - but not as fun as it was without the magnaflow resonator, lol

I had each dump right behind the wheel well so you can barely see the pipe, and then spray painted it black.

Just a warning. If you did what I did, and just cut the darn resonator off and didn't have an exhaust tailpipe created.. and you tow.. you'll melt your inner fender liner and your flare! :(

Well that wasnt a very smart idea.
No, and I had it like that for a long time. I hooked up a travel trailer and boom! I was going up steep grades and truck was throwing some BTU at 4K PRM apparently.

I got a new flare for $50 off of Ebay and cut the burned part of the liner. Looks like new. :) LOL

So what does your exhaust tailpipe look like now? You're saying that if you remove the resonator, (Which is the piece at the end?) it doesn't direct the exhaust away from the liner? I Think I need to go look at my truck and see how that setup is again lol I came from a 1500 that had the dual pipes coming out the back. I was wondering where they were when I looked at a 2500, then I noticed it sitting on the passenger side.
