2022 HO throttle lag

Looking for some guidance. Test drove a 2022 HO with 27k miles yesterday. Getting onto the interstate the initial throttle response was non existent. Once rolling it took off like a shot. I was expecting to feel some of that monster torque in the seat of my pants, but it never came. Almost seemed like the turbo never spooled up, or was working at all. Is this normal when the truck has no load?

when youre done listening to the "stock parts are best" crowd...with my 22 HO as soon as i added the aftermarket intake there was a significant reduction in spool up time....when i added the larger intake horn the difference was again very noticeable...im going to assume since you were merging on the interstate youre not talking about the first and second gear reduced power feel but third gear and higher roll on the throttle...these things are so choked up from the factory its almost criminal to feel what one drives like after a few simple mods....

Great info, thanks. Speaking of the first and second year reduced power feel, is that common also? It had a little bucking going on from a stop, I've been scouring the net for info and it also appears it might have a faulty or dirty egr valve.

My 22HO doesn’t exhibit any of these things you’re talking about. I had a 2019 2500 and it seemed pretty quick also. It just seems to know when to shift whether loaded or unloaded.

This is the first HO I've driven so wasn't sure, but it certainly didn't feel normal. Had a '02 5.9L that seemed more responsive than this truck.

I have a 99 nv4500 5.9L with larger injectors, 4" exhaust, and a tuning box.

My 2021 DRW HO truck would still wipe the floor with my 99.

That's exactly what I would expect. Just heard back from the dealer and after a test drive they're replacing the egr valve. Looks like there's a new Ram in my very near future.

I'll throw my two cents in here. It seems to be more torque management and stability control in normal Drive modes. I've noticed in four High when you turn off all the nannies it gets much more spunky with better throttle response. Also there is a healthy level of learning that goes on with the transmission over time. For instance, I've noticed after Towing heavy for any extended period, after unhooking, the truck feels all together differently for a period of time then seems to settle back in to conservative torque management.

Playing devil's advocate, I don't actually mind how it's set up conservatively. Having approximately 1,000 torque on an unladen truck in any traction circumstances would find drivers a$$ over tea kettle in too many situations, but that's just one man's opinion.

That is all the Pedal Monster does and it does it well ! If it malfunctions which mine hasten't it will revert back to stock . It automatically goes back to stock when put in reverse . I have had mine for over 6 months without issue .

DBW lag and torque management.

Many are happy adding a pedal commander or pedal monster but all its doing is ramping up the DBW signal.
So if I'm understanding this correctly, the pedal monster is just tricking the truck to use more fuel for the given pedal position?

correct...at like 30% throttle input itll tell the computer to give 45% input....it is adjustable....several different sensitivities....

Good for throttle response, bad for fuel economy.

Gotcha. I apologize I'm quite low tech, which is why I'm here to gain some of this valuable knowledge being passed around.
No more fuel used. It just amplifies the accel pedal voltage at a faster rate.

" throttle sensitivity controller "

FWIW, I disabled my traction control today running a few errands around town, and easily broke the rear end loose several times.

It is cold here (10F)...

Hmmmm....I think I should try this out too....you know....for testing purposes and information...lol :)
