2022 HD Crowdsourced VIN/Order Tracking

I'll start off by saying no, your not over thinking it at all. :) I dove off down this rabbit hole already and have done exactly what you call your "more crazy idea"
I am using the build sheet link you mention above. As I stated earlier, I only have your couple hundred VINs you list there to verify against for STA trucks, but would with near certainty guarantee the VINs I provided to be correct. For the SHAP factory I have confirmed this same process against over 14,000 VINs so far. I am doing pretty much exactly as you describe above and checking every possible permutation of the sequence. I then analyze those returns. This only has to be done once for each sequence number. Then I have the complete VIN and can just check against the correct VIN from then on.

I'm not sure if I made it clear in my first post, but I only started with the sequence number for all 235 VINs in your list (count from yesterday). My approach gave me matching results to the 209 FULL VINs you already had so that is 209 confirmations that it worked correctly.

Another thought, there is no downside in trying the VIN's I provided, worst case you still get no build sheets for the trucks, which is what you are getting now with only the sequence anyway. Hopefully we will see some of those trucks move down the line soon and it will help confirm this approach works for STA like it does for SHAP.

As for your issue with the links not working on occasion, its a cache problem. If you clear your cache before each pull you will get fresh results. Since the download is a PDF and not an actual webpage, the "VIN NOT FOUND" PDF for each VIN will be stored in your browsers cache and returned the following day when you run your scan again even if there is an update version online.
Holy crap you're smart

The gap in my understanding has to do with how you are validating that a VIN exists for a vehicle which the equipment listing isn't yet available. As far as I can tell the response to the request is the same if a VIN is invalid vs. a valid VIN without an equipment listing yet available. I'm sure you've figured it out. But I'll send you a PM a bit later to see if I can better understand. I don't want to bore others here too much.

I would love to expand the list of VINs I'm checking to get a better overall picture of the HD build progress.

Help me understand what you mean. I referenced https://www.ramtrucks.com/BodyBuild...jGgHzAHGUTU0WB3rWuqSY7YmQ2vEhuBWBPDrB7mL5kAj

Sorry about this news. Maybe the slight silver lining is that it was realized now instead of when it came time to take delivery of the truck?
I appreciate all your help associated with this thread. You can remove my entry on the database. I've cancelled my '22 order and with the help of the Dealership's GM, found a very similar 21 that should be here in a week or two. Didn't sound like a well optioned Longhorn would be delivered until 2nd quarter 2022. Bad timing to be buying a new truck with tech options...

I'll strikethrough your entry. Q2 2022 would be pretty bad. I hope that isn't reality for most folks who got the tech options.

I got an update today; my 3500 Limited (no L1, but Towing Tech + Safety Group + Adaptive Cruise) went to D1 8/26, supposedly scheduled for 9/6 build, and 9/8 ship. I'd buy (maybe) the 9/6 build, but I'll be *shocked* if it ships that soon. Honestly, I don't want to get my hopes up on the build date, but, that's what's currently in the system.

So it looks like they're starting to get some higher trims on the schedule. Let's hope that stays semi-firm.

My Laramie mega HO is “scheduled” to be built 10/18/21 per a FCA vehicle inquiry. Has pretty much everything except the sunroof.
I reached out to Sandi on Friday to see if there were any changes. My truck was still in D status with the same estimated ship of 8/11/2021. Was going to wait 2 weeks (9/10) and check back in with her then. Hoping that my truck moved to D1 with a build date around y’all… so we can work out a transport together.
