Yes it will be the daily driver that's the problem. We've got an F150 now and my husband hates to give it up so even getting a 3/4 ton is pushin it for him. I seriously don't think our pin weight would fall in the 20% category.. probably closer to 15% or less. I know things start adding up as far as cargo but we really don't carry that much. We'll put some things in the trailer if we have too. Will this be a daily driver or mainly for towing? If towing is the main concern, why not just jump to a 3500? That’s what I did, the gasser can handle 10-12k no problem. I wanted the payload of the 3500, easy to hit 2000-2500lbs of pin weight on a 10-12k 5er.
I tend to ignore the mfg pin weight rating. They usually calculate at 15% when reality is often 20-25%.
ThanksYeah you’ll lose some fuel mileage and it will ride a little rougher but it will do really good towing. If you do get this setup I would get the Timbren SES. They will take care of the squat.
