Just bought the truck and a 38’ RV. I need to figure out how to best use the aux switches to save my transmission and engine. Especially over the Rockie Mountains. Once on the other side heading east we are moving to South Carolina.

I pull a 15 k 5th wheel. I have pulled it over the Rockies with a 14 standard output with a 68rfe . You put it in drive and go . If you have the HO you just go a little faster . Coming down the Mountains you use your exhaust brake . Keeping the rpm high will make your brake work much better . Watch some u tubes if you need a clearer picture . The worst part will be watching your fuel gauge

Aux switches?

If you're talking Diesel;

I think you mean to say Tow Haul (TH) and Exhaust Brake (EB).

Read the manual. Watch a few videos.

Use TH for delayed upshifts and accelerated downshifts in hilly terrain.

If you find the transmission shuttling between gears (6-5-4) on slight pulls uphill, you can "lock out" a high gear.

Using the EB set to Full On causes it to engage any time you lift off the accelerator pedal.

Using the EB set to Auto will hold speed if you tap the brake. This lets you coast a bit if you lift without engaging unless you tap the brake.

Either setting works with cruise to maintain speed downhill. If the truck cannot maintain speed with the EB alone when using cruise, it will engage the truck and trailer service brakes automatically.

Just joined the forum today and yours is the first post I have read after doing advanced search for my 2021 Ram 3500 Limited 6.7HO….did toggle the Tow/Haul once or twice while pulling our 15K 5th Wheel. Great advice (suggestions) in here….thanks for that
