I agree, hell even if I could put a short cut on my screen to the DRLs to turn it on and off I'd be happy, but its buried in the settings

Depends if you have to follow Trudeau laws or not… also that switch has never controlled DRLs only ever the headlight/park lights hell be lucky you have an off position the 22 trucks for canada dont have one

Played with mine today.
As noted they are on anytime the ignition is in run, engine on or off, parking brake on or off. They don't operate in ACC at all, so that may be a good position for a drive thru.
When the parking lights are on they reduce intensity, so this may be a good option for campgrounds/etc. I'll often use parking/fogs in campgrounds as the beam stays lower.
