2020 ordering?

Placing order today or tomorrow for 3500 Limited Crew Cab, LB, DRW. I was able to add XFQ ($495) to my order - but it's not listed on the web build site (you have to have your dealer select it on his order system).
As far as the XG9 goes, it's still not on their system. I pressed my dealer pretty hard (as I'm not ordering this 90K truck until the option shows) and I'm prepared to sit on the order until it's available. He said he will contact his rep to try and get the availability target date (just like everyone's dealer has tried I guess). Someone posted that Rod Romain was quoted as saying it will be available on orders submitted after 03/01/20. Meanwhile, they continue to feature it in all their advertising. FCA seems to invoke "radio silence" on this option (just like they did on the 2019s).

So I just checked with RamCares and my truck has been built. It's in "KZ" status, waiting to be shipped from Mexico. They say patience is a virtue. :)

I'm pretty much in the same boat, with a similar order 3500 HO Longhorn or Limited Mega SB DRW (still need to decide my interior color). I keep my trucks for a long time, and I want both options.
Let me know what you hear back. I'm supposed to give my order next Monday. But it might have to wait...

I’m a bit annoyed my truck didn’t come with the TTPMS after my dealer specifically reached out to Ram and was told that it would come on it, but I’m holding out hope it’ll be an easy add. I checked and the wiring connector is back there behind the bumper where the module is supposed to plug in.

Yes, the build sheet finally appeared today! Hopefully get the window sticker by end of week. Anyone know avg time for shipment once built?

From Rod Romain's comment (above), they do not plan to retrofit any vehicle - which unfortunately makes sense. He claims that the dealers will not be equipped or prepared for the sizable "flash" that would be needed on the truck's firmware. This is required so that the TTPMS screen & logic, once activated, will appear as a selection behind the TPIS screen like he demonstrated during the 2019 product announcement and YouTube demonstration videos. Remember that for every add-on or retrofit, there has to be a hardware and software component. Just bolting on the parts and installing the sensors on the trailer won't activate the functionality. That's the risk of ordering before the option hits the dealer's new order configurator.

This seems to be a requirement of all three truck makers. GM announced much the same news earlier this model year on their Denali 3500's TTPMS option - stating that if the TTPMS was not ordered at the factory it would not be available.

I'm still amazed how uninformed or misinformed dealers are to this issue and clueless on many other options for the HD trucks. Just today, I had to research for hours trying to find out what "Adaptive Steering" actually is and whether it comes standard on the Limited or optional. Dealer's "Truck Specialist" was clueless. Turns out that it is included in the Level 1 Equipment Group.

Here's what the dealer stated when I ordered the truck two weeks ago and inquired about the TTPMS system:

"Yes, if you buy the TPMs modules from Mopar at a later date, the Ram will indeed be equipped to have the feature available. From what I was told from my Ram Rep, all of the Rams will have the feature, the customer just has to buy the modules and have them installed."

I don't think anybody really knows what's happening with it until it starts appearing in vehicles.

I had the trailer camera wiring added to the build sheet (XFQ), but I believe you can also buy the wiring package via Mopar and do it yourself?

I have been keeping up with this as my dealer keeps informing me mine is coming with it.... I have been asking him to verify this and he acts like he is starting to get upset with me acting as if I don't believe him... I guess the laugh will be on him when mine doesn't have it.. I guess they will have to discount the vehicle even more if he want me to take it without what I asked for... LOL

Just received the following from the dealer on XG9, it's not promising and probably the most likely outcome. Anything better will be a bonus. Also, I was informed my build was already in G (trim) status, ordered on 1/9 with air suspension.

From Dealer:
I just spoke to the area RAM Rep. He stated that as of now he doesn't have an answer on if XG9 is going to be available this quarter for the build outs. Sounds very much up in the air. I wish I had a better answer for you, but that's the information I was given. Corporate hasn't given them any indication one way or another.

He also stated that it is something that likely can NOT be added after the fact. Which I would be willing to bet is correct based on what I've seen in the past.

In regards to your build, you are now in "G" status which is described as "Trim." Its moving, its moving!

We need someone with a dealer who's idea of "checking into it" is not simply checking with his FCA rep one level up - and who is satisfied when he reports back to you that the Rep said "I don't have an answer for you on that..."

I wonder how many sales are currently "on hold" pending a coherent answer on this one question???

Remember, if you are determined to have this feature because you need to tow your 5th Wheel safely, and you can't wait more than two model years for an advertised feature to actually become orderable, the 2020 GMC Denali 3500 I looked at has it installed/delivered/working on their Dualies - it's a $50 option and comes with 4 sensors. And, their most expensive configuration is $8K less expensive.

I just found out (from a confidential source) that XG9 (Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring) option is planned for ordering on new trucks to begin in February and the cost will be $365. Not yet sure if this includes wheel sensors or not.

The XFQ (Trailer Camera Wiring/No Camera) is not on the web build site but is currently on the dealer ordering site - so you have to tell them to add it. The cost is $495. Some Window Stickers on trucks in dealers lots show this option now.

If you haven't ordered XFQ above from the factory, the Mopar add-on Part # is 82215833AB. I saw an article about Aux Trailer Camera Prep Kit for retrofitting elsewhere on this site.

Now that you mention that, I went over and priced/built a new Denalli to see what the options were and you were correct the the have this option on their 3500 already and Yes they were less expensive. Now the question is, Do I wait for mine to come in without it and try to get them to discount the truck more or just take it as is. Or I could order one from one of Ram's competitors? And will I be just as happy? It has been a long time since I have owned anything but a Mopar.

I have a after market trailer TPMS system and it works great. Gives tire temp and PSI. just saying the OEM one might not be worth waiting for.

Went to RAM Chat to get my weekly update on the build of my 2020 RAM 2500 MegaCab. They tell me the build is complete and it has passed inspections. Waiting transport instructions. So somewhere in Mexico my Truck is waiting. Hopefully the window stick will be available soon. Anybody have any idea on how long it take to ship? I am in Northern Illinois so FCA calls it the Chicago region. Must admit, after two and half months I am getting a bit anxious! :p

AFAIK you can't really get much more information now, at least from RAMCares. Your dealer might know when it's actually on the train out of Mexico, and when it arrives at a nearby storage yard. My dealer claimed that the shipment process from Mexico can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks.

Perhaps our vehicles are temporary neighbors. My dealer sent me a note last week that my truck was built and awaiting coyotes to get it into the US. My order was punched in about a month ago. Given your timeline, they moved quicker on my build than I would have thought. If I get a more detailed ETA, I'll post an update here. I imagine Illinois will be an earlier dropoff/delivery than mine on the east coast.

Check out my signature below. I have been keeping the first couple of lines updated with the status and dates when I get new info from Ram Cares or my Sales Person. Keeping mind, I live in Lower Alabama so time on your delivery might differ depending on what part of the country you are in.

Congratulations on the new truck !
