I was looking into trading my chevy for a 2020 ram 3500 with the max tow package. I pull a 26,000# trailer, does anyone know if they have smoothed out the shifting in the aisin tranny's from the 2019. And is the exhaust brake pretty aggressive. Thank you in advance.

Assuming you've looked into it already based on your reference to Max Tow, but with a Diesel engine choice, only the Dually can be had with a 4.10 rear.

My 2020 Aisin shifts great around town or pulling 16K. Exhaust brake is the most aggressive one you can get on a pickup truck available today. Using Tow haul mode you also get delayed upshifts, quicker downshifts and it keeps the engine RPMs up higher for more aggressive exhaust brake use. That said, the 6-speed (any 6 speed) isn't going to be as smooth or mannered as the new 8-9-10 speeds trans. Be forewarned the Adaptive Cruise uses both the exhaust brake and truck/trailer service brakes.

Most don't expect RAM to release an HD 8 speed (rumored ZF) or perhaps even a 9 speed, until 2022 or due to C-19, perhaps later when the 5th gen cabs appear.

been happy with my 2020 3500 w/Aisin. About 30% of my miles are towing and I have no complaints. I understand when people say the acceleration could be better and the transmission shifts are firm but I would not call the shifts harsh at all. It amazes me how effortless this truck pulls a trailer. The exhaust brake is powerful and the smart exhaust brake setting is really slick.

The brakes are applied very lightly . The only way I realized it was when I looked in the mirror . The truck is not going to smoke your brakes .

The exhaust brake is really good if in tow haul mode, the transmission still has a waggle between 1st to second or second to third, have not had mine long enough to figure it out or have not stomped on it hard enough to figure out which it is, but it's an aisin so my brother who is a tranny mechanic says it's not a worry, they are built well and strong enough to take it
