2019 Ram 2500 6.4 squeal at start up / Chirping Noise - merged threads

So far I'm pretty happy with my new truck. I've got about 1500 miles on it and the only real issue is the rear sliding window doesn't want to close sometime and makes a ticking noise. What is driving me crazy though is the squealing noise at start up. It sounds like a belt, gets worse when you put it in gear, and then almost goes away once the truck is fully warmed up. From browsing other forums it appears this is a very common problem that a lot of 6.4 trucks have. Some owners have claimed it is the exhaust and I have crawled under the truck at start up and it does sound like it is coming from the exhaust between the engine and the cats. I haven't been able to find any information on a fix or solution to the noise. It's a little embarrassing when people want to check out your new truck and they immediately ask what that noise is.
I just sold my 2500. Back to Ford - quiet, smooth, and not so clumsy. I really liked the 2500, but RAM really needs to work the noise, the A/C, and the loose steering. Take Care! V

If the base model Ford interiors didn’t suck so much ass and cost so much money I’d consider one too. I really like the look of the super duty.

The interior in the Ford is hideous. They are great trucks but just aren't nice to drive.

Has this been resolved by ram yet?
My 2021 sounds like crap brought in once and told nothing was found. It goes away when warmed up but who cares when it's brand new and not getting better

Not to my knowledge. My 21 PW does it. Replaced muffler with the Magnaflow and still the same. I suspect since it doesnt seem to be a safety issue, RAM doesnt care.

So my new 21 with 500 miles does this same thing. I read most of this thread and just have to vent / comment. I think it is insane that there are this many people with the same complaint / issue and the best FCA/Chrysler/Stellantis (whatever they go by this week) can do is point us to a local dealership that has no fix for it. If they truly want to fix this issue the corporation needs to take one of these trucks that has this issue and find a solution! Even if it means taking the thing apart bolt by bolt. Quit sending everyone on wild goose chases. No I don't want to privately message @RamCares or spend my precious time visiting a dealer to get nothing out of it but frustration. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Sending people to the dealers is not working! This is my 4th Ram and from the looks of it may be my last!

Someone has to bite the bullet and swap in headers and see if that does it. I swear that sound is coming from where all the pipes collect.
I agree.....or the convertors....?

For mine, at least, it's only bad at the initial cold start. Within a minute it's gone. And then it sounds fine.

Definitely sucks firing it up in a parking lot of something though. More so with how good the exhaust sounds too.

When I get a rattle at startup (1 sec or so) I change my oil. It goes away again for another 5k miles or so. Usually starts at around 30% oil life.

This isn't really a rattle. It's a pinging kind of noise. In my experience, once the exhaust system heats up, it goes away. And it's gradual.

Hey all, joining the club of all the wrong reasons. It is my first RAM, a 2021 Limited and it has the same chirpy noise, even after 2k miles. It is very disturbing that after paying ~80k, the engine sound is embarrassing and owners are turned down w/o having the problem solved. Went to the dealer, they said I should return after I've put a few miles on the truck ... Returning next week, see if it can be resolved, but from what I read, it is doubtful. Did anyone explore returning the vehicle?
