2019 Ram 2500 6.4 squeal at start up / Chirping Noise - merged threads

I don't understand how some are making the noise and others are not if they are using the same parts. I have a 2020 / 3500 with no noise at all.
The people who complain of the noise say “they hear it in every 6.4 on the lot” or “they all make the noise” just go back through the thread.

the complainers have made, shared, and posted videos of the noise.

my truck sounds just like all the other trucks I’ve heard and sounds just like the videos (and so does yours) but you and I recognize that the sound is normal.

these folks have convinced themselves that there is a problem where there isn’t one

Since when does "normal" make it right? It may be "normal" for a 6.4L Hemi to sound like a junker with a squealing fan belt when it starts up but that doesn't make it right. It is a design flaw. It might not be a flaw that causes damage but it is a flaw nonetheless.

We’ve covered this, it’s not a fan belt

Read my post again: SOUNDS like a squealing fan belt. That is what it SOUNDS like. That is what a casual observer would think it was when they HEARD you start your engine. I had a 6.4. I know the sound and I know the source is the exhaust. I said so in an earlier post right here in this thread (#154). I am disappointed to find out that seven years later they still make that same godawful noise.

Not looking forward to this....with a new truck that is.

Sorry man, felt like I was being an ass when I wrote that. Guess it wasn’t just a feeling.

My truck also does it and it is definitely an exhaust leak at either the head to exhaust manifold or from the exhaust manifold to the down pipes or both. There are gaskets at both locations and once it warms up it goes away by 50% or so. Between the exhaust sound and the cab rattle this truck makes me not want to drive it and it only has 18k miles on it. Also, it's specific to the truck motor and exhaust design because the cars with the 6.4 do not sound like this.

I'm also wondering if anyone had found a aftermarket exhaust that had fixed the squeal and ticking noise?
Greetings all,
I recently installed the Magnaflow #19493 direct fit muffler and I can hear that noise (I believe it’s coming from the cats) more now than before.
As they say, it is- what it is. Does sound pretty mean though.

I know my wife had a chrysler 200 v6 and it made a squealing noise when first start , we comp[lain and they found it to be a faulty idler pulley ,they put an experimental one on and solved that problem

I don’t believe the sounds we are experiencing are at the front of the motor, it’s more pronounced on the passenger side by the cats.

I dont know yet just explaining my experience on another vehicle but it sounded just like the disription ya'll are giving , guess I'll find out in a couple weeks when mine arrives.

No worries on the sounds. I thought I didn’t have the sound until I changed the exhaust. After listening to it, it’s nothing terminal in the engine, it’s the harmonics in the exhaust.
Enjoy your new truck, it’s a sweet truck and should treat you well for years to come:)
