2019 Ram 2500 6.4 squeal at start up / Chirping Noise - merged threads

I recorded this video getting out of work and before leaving to work yesterday and today. I am NOT advertising my youtube channel, i dont even use it. I only posted these videos today to post here for reference...

Mine sounds like that or just a bit quieter.

When the tie bar was broken you could hear it when the MDS kicked in at say 45 to 55 mph. I thought it was pinging however, then the tie bar must have broken completely and it was a terrible sound idling in the carport.

I welded it up and no more pinging sounds and the bad racket has never come back.

The tie bar I welded on mine is just aft of the cats.

Yes that's basically what my '21 sounds like on cold start. I actually notice the squeak more as the rpm drop back under 1000.

So far I'm pretty happy with my new truck. I've got about 1500 miles on it and the only real issue is the rear sliding window doesn't want to close sometime and makes a ticking noise. What is driving me crazy though is the squealing noise at start up. It sounds like a belt, gets worse when you put it in gear, and then almost goes away once the truck is fully warmed up. From browsing other forums it appears this is a very common problem that a lot of 6.4 trucks have. Some owners have claimed it is the exhaust and I have crawled under the truck at start up and it does sound like it is coming from the exhaust between the engine and the cats. I haven't been able to find any information on a fix or solution to the noise. It's a little embarrassing when people want to check out your new truck and they immediately ask what that noise is.
I know this is an older thread but alot of times a chirp on start up is an indication your clutch fan bearings are seized...might need a new clutch for the fan...

So your telling me easily 50%+ of brand new 6.4 hemi trucks straight from factory need new a new clutch fan because bearings are seized? No. This would have been figured out long ago. There is still many theories on why or what the fix is but nothing for sure. This has been a known sound or "issue" for years with these motors. People have ran their 6.4 for years with trying everything out there from the manifold to y pipe, bearings, belts, etc. And still nothing worked still chirping. You either get lucky or you dont.

LMFAO I was just responding with something to check...what your explaining sounds like a bad clutch fan bearing....and yes you could actually have that ...although extremely rare on a new truck....it has been seen with new clutch fans .... but you seem to have it all figured out...what was it?

Take the clutch fan off and start it without the belt on once and see if the noise goes away.. ( for anybody that has this problem not just slutzky ) ...easy check

Things that could make a chirp sound on start-up that I know of

Clutch fan/pully bearings
Starter
Flywheel
Belt
Engine mounts
Loose bolts just about anywhere

ETC...

Okay UPDATE:
Your video worked for me this time...<---

What I hear sounds more like a bearing or pump noise...no chirp or squeal.

Hmm I may have heard that on my 24 rebel...ill check again today to see...BUT I'm thinkin pressure plate, Torque converter, or transmission noise...maybe pump....or something spinning 'Unbalanced or not in plane'

Does it do it in park and in Neutral?

Does it ever go away?

That sound is exactly what I had in my 91 Dakota manual...it was the clutch spindle pilot bushing...of course we know its not that.

Im sure you checked but are the fluids ok...because air getting into a mechanical pump can sound like that.

Anyhow let us know if you ever find out what it is/was.

Army19kilo - If you read more toward the beginning of this thread, or several other threads on the 6.4 chirp issue, you'll find that it isn't related to the normal mechanical stuff we'd check when hearing this noise. It is a "feature" of many/most 6.4's, new or otherwise. Some just do it when cold, some all the time at idle. Mine has done it since I've had the truck, bought it with 7,700 miles and now have 90 on it. Most likely something in the exhaust configuration, to my knowledge nobody has found a "just do this and it's gone" fix for it. Doesn't particularly bother me, but does bother some people quite a bit.

Your suggestions make sense, just in this case it's not what people are hearing and posting about.
