Good morning,

Quick intro; my wife and I are packing up, selling our home and going to live the camper life for a little. I’m about to retire from the military, so we want to enjoy life a little bit after a busy life. We recently purchased the ram in the title. Just here to gain some knowledge and prepare myself for the diesel truck life.

Welcome to the Forum. Can you fill in some blanks? Your 2019 3500 DRW is capable of many options for a camper. Campers can get small quick, pull trailers are limited to storage space and fifth wheels can get heavy, even for a DRW. The picture I uploaded is 2004 2500 CTD that a couple from Switzerland have been living in the camper since late 2019. I personally couldn't live like that in such a small space, which is half the size of a small camper. Its fully self contained including solar, gen set and AC except for a bathroom. 5A301D54-BD71-407B-AB32-5EC58C11CE7A.jpeg

Wouldn’t want to be stuck in that on a rainy day!

Welcome Aboard !
I personally have a fifth wheel 35 ft , Try different types if you are going full-time . They all seen small after a while . Go to an RV show and look at the different types and imagine living in them on a daily basis . The prices new are thru the roof , there are many late used models in mint condition that the owners have already worked the bugs out of . Military Bases have great camp sites at a reasonable price check them out . Happy Trails .

BTW, find a quality camper, full timing tends to beat them up. Also, stay away from Lippert Frames and suspensions. Look for the GVWR tags, it should say Lippert manufacturing on it if it is. The RV park in Parker AZ I used to belong to, I would see lots of issues with them as well as having a poor reputation in the blogs. I'm posting a picture of my 2005 Arctic Fox and 2019 SRW, for reference. Arctic Fox is a medium priced RV with better quality frames, and they manufacture them here in the USA. I'm not saying the Arctic Fox is the best out there, but they are above average.DF312133-5B89-4678-9D8D-FFB83A1AF01C.jpeg

I found that when people say "camper", they don't always mean a truck camper but more often referencing a trailer or even 5er. I know there are few that live full time in a truck camper (some of the larger models) and sometimes they tow a small cargo trailer behind them with the rest of their belongings that wouldn't fit in a camper.

Welcome aboard, hope you have a good time in the incoming chapter of your lives, sounds like fun. i'm a baby in terms of diesel, even more on the 5th/trailer life. Curious to see what your final choice will be.

We will be pulling a 43’ fifth wheel.

If it is a new RV make sure to go through everything and test it throughly. I have had 5th wheels and diesel pushers for 25 years and they all have bugs when new. Your truck will haul anything and will likely be the least of your worries. There are so many options for full timers. We have similar plan soon. I have a 2500 SRW LHL with air but waiting on a 3500 DRW LHL. My new Raptor 423 Is in getting a generator fuel pump replaced. It is always something, bring tools.

Your going to need every bit of that 3500 DRW for a 43' 5ver. Fill out your signature and list your truck and toys or home in your case. ;)
