I’m sure this has been already covered so apologize for not finding it here.

Does the gas tank have reserve capacity after reading 0 miles remaining range? It’s equipped with all the tow package equipment but assume it has a 31 gal tank. I filled up recently reading under 20 miles range remaining and could only get 26 gals in?

Thanks!

Your gas tank has a marking on it that states the capacity. I looked at mine recently to compare with my buddies truck but I can’t remember if it’s a stamp or a sticker. It’s on the back looking forward at the tank from the rear axle. My 19 has a 31gal FYI.

I have never run mine past 0 so I can’t answer that part.

Fun fact “el tank” is Spanish for “the tank”

“El tanque”…pump is “ La bomba”…valve, “La valvula”….pools in Vegas, man.
I notice that it says “31GAL GAS FU”, like they know I’d like at least 40 gallon.
Pools in Atlanta ain’t much better.. people can’t spell. Shear decent pump. lol

I assumed it was FU EL
(continued on next line) on the part number sticker I was just being silly

I also have the 31 gallon tank and had the same question when I first bought my ‘24. Ive let my gas light come on to see how many gallons it would take when the ”mileage” reads less than 50. Could never get more than 26ish gallons in as well. I thought about carrying a gas and actually running it empty to see how far it would really go

At 15mpg thats would be two gallons remaining which would make 30.75. Seems spot on.

I was getting 14 MPG.
I rarely get that. But we had just made a 450 mile road trip and got 15 MPG which I never get. Maybe because I was keeping the speed under 75 MPH.

It's pretty well known that when DTE gets close to 0 there is still roughly 3-4 gallons in the tank. It's going to fluctuate depending on current MPG that the computer is reading. This is a buffer to ensure the fuel pump doesn't run dry and burn itself out, and you don't run out of fuel at an inopportune time.

The most I've ever been able to put in the tank was 28 gallons with 5 miles left on the DTE.

Last August while driving through Wyoming, we stopped at Fort Laramie in Eastern Wyoming to visit the old Calvary Fort. When we arrived there, I had already driven about 15 miles past zero miles left in the tank. We were on our way to Nebraska, so the next sizable town was Torrington, Wyoming, about 20 miles away. I stopped at the Cenex Gas ⛽️ station as soon as we arrived in Torrington. The truck took 30.5 gallons of gas. That was the first and only time I ever let the gas tank get that empty. I read that’s it’s not good for the fuel pump. I now fill up before the warning light comes on indicating I have 50 miles left in the tank.

There is a buffer no doubt, but that buffer is dependent on how long has that gas light been on and ignored.
