2018 power wagon Sound system upgrades

All that makes me want to just leave the stock speakers alone and wire in an amp and woofer.
That's what I did at first, but something just didn't sound right. At higher volumes it sounded underpowered, like it was dipping out certain parts of the songs. Hard to describe as I'm not an audiophile, but if bass was hitting, guitar and vocals were all together at the same time in a song much of the base would be reduced coming from the subs. Sounded like someone was wiggling the volume knob almost. And the factory volume just wasn't that loud at full tilt, which led me to want to amplify the speakers, which led me down the rabbit hole of what I ended up with in the previous post.

I'll also add that the factory system wasn't terrible in mine, but when I added my own amp and subs that I already owned it just started snowballing. I don't need a banging system, but considering how expensive this truck is/was I was kind of annoyed the factory setup wasn't better.

That sounds like the anc to me, I already have the bypass cable on the way.

That's what I figured. I had the bypass all ready to go for the second (bigger) upgrade, but the installer came back and said it needed some sort of jumper with it so he just cut 2 wires or something. He seemed familiar with the ANC bypass so I let him do it his way. Sounds great now.

Interesting. I'd completely forgot about the bypass hardness that I ordered just in case ANC would act funny with aftermarket speakers. I need to try that next.

I just installed mine, the bypass unit was right up under the dash next to the e-brake pedal. Don’t have time to go for a drive right now, but I’ll report back on if it makes any noticeable difference on the otherwise stock system.

So I like my stereo a lot better now that I disabled the ANC with the bypass cable. The sound is more clear, less muddy, the bass is more clean and the road noise isn’t noticeably different to me. I’m starting to think I am going to have to return the amp, sub and sub box that are currently en route.

Wow, just catching up. To bad you went thru all of that to be not so happy with it. I’m not sure why the 6x9’s didn’t fit your model from mine but who knows. My stock system was so terrible, after i switched out the 3-ways around the board, the sound was 100% better. Especially the sound stage up front. I’m still in the process of wiring up the system, I had half the interior dismantled and I’m running the power/ground and speaker and signal cables. I’ll post some pics soon.
