Brought home a 2019 2500 CTD Megacab a couple weeks ago. Currently at 350 miles.
Per the sticker inside the door, the truck was built June 2019. Does this mean the oil is old now? Was thinking of doing a first oil change at 1000 or 1500 miles and then every 7500 to 8000 thereafter.

I have almost the exact same deal with my 2019 I just purchased. I’m going to change the oil at 1500 miles and the regular 7000 intervals after. Just me- that’s my preference

Personally, it was new to you with very few miles, I would wait til the mileage or 6mos from your delivery date. They can’t weasel out of any warranty claim over this.

If it’s running the factory fill, your oil is coming up on a year. I’m sure your fine leaving it however per the manufacturer guidelines, oil change intervals are not only mileage based, the are time or mileage, whichever comes first. Also some prefer to get fresh oil in once the vehicle is past the break in period.

A little common sense here. If the truck is new with just the transfer miles on it, there are not enough significant contaminants in the oil for it to be considered “bad”. Lots of guys have their oil analysis done to track their engines health. My goodness, if oil “goes bad”, don’t tell all the diesel powered equipment around my place. I change based on hours of use. Those engines are operated in much harsher conditions as well. Do whatever makes you feel good though, as it is ultimately YOUR MONEY, YOUR CHOICE. I guess that could be one more negotiation point to the dealer..........after they snicker. Maybe I need to throw out all my oil on the shelf, as I know some of it must be past it’s shelf life. HUH? Yes, I make sure it meets current spec called for by manufacturers.

Bozo, you put forth a good argument. I see your point. Thanks

This is one of those topics which can tend to head into controversy. I always find it best to go with the recommendations of the manufacturer, rather than the opinions of people like me on internet forums.

Oil threads can be a hoot. Anyway, wait till the end of May and dump it. The factory fill will likely be just fine until then and by changing it end May you'll be adhering to the max OCI (time limit) set forth in the Italian cook book.
