I have a 2026 2500 Limited on order and I’m gathering items needed to flat tow it. I see that Curt makes a kit for the 1500 to plug into the existing taillight harness at each taillight to eliminate the need to splice. The part number is 58974. Curt cannot confirm that this will fit a 2500. Does anyone know if the 1500 and 2500 utilize the same LED taillight? I can’t imagine that they would be different but am hoping to confirm before o purchase this kit

I can’t speak for the wiring, but the taillights are definitely different. They’re completely different size and shape.

Thinking about this further… the beds from the 1500 and 2500 are the same bed so the size between the two can’t be different and searching for 2025 taillights they appear the same between 1/2 and 3/4 ton. I’m going to stop at a dealer to look and hopefully get an answer regarding the wiring from service

Why not get a harness for a in bed 7 wire plug?

They plug into the factory harness where the bumper 7 wire plug is and then you have all wires in the trailer plug available.

That would provide for an input to the system from an external source (the motorcoach) but diodes must be installed at the taillights to prevent back feeding into the rest of the trucks system so splicing connections and diodes need to be done at the taillights

They are not the same at all. Like mentioned above, different size and shape. But most relevant to what you’re doing, the tail light connectors and wiring between the 1500’s and 2500/3500’s are completely different.

I’m coming back to the Ram brand after being removed for 10 years so I have some catching up to do regarding the similarities and differences between the 1500 and 2500. Thanks for the info

I have a 2023 RAM2500 and my sister has a 2022 RAM1500 Limited and the tail lights are the same!
One of the problems is if you buy a new one (changed the cracked one) a dealer has to program the radar to work!

Let us know about the 2026

I’ll say this again. The tail lights for a 2500/3500 and the tail lights for a 5th gen 1500 (that’s what a 2022 1500 limited is) are NOT the same. The size is NOT the same. The 1500 tails are too tall to even fit in the 2500/3500 tail light hole.
Also, when you swap in a new (or used) tail light with blind spot radar, the radar does NOT need any programming.
None of what I just posted is a guess.
