Watching some stuff and stelantis sent out crate motors to 6 people to install in something. tom bailey already broke the trans

They're going to need an 8HP100(or better)

ZF transmissions give you the rating in their name "75"= 750 Newton meters torque (75x10)
750nm=553lb-ft of torque

8HP75 is getting all the torque it is rated for from the factory HO engine

Hurricane makes peak torque at relatively low RPM (2300ish), that engine was giving that transmission way more toque than it wanted.

Not a Hurricane problem or even a ZF problem, it's a not enough transmission problem.

I know this is all new to us truck folks, but those of guys who were into imports know the potential of I6 turbo engines so Im intrigued to see how things play out. I don't see them working in an HD application but it'll be plenty for the 1500.

I6 turbo engines can be built for HD applications easy there is a reason Cummins is coming out with a 6.7L gas engine it has the low end snot needed to move some serious weight

I should have been more clear on what I said, small displacement I6s like the hurricane aren’t HD appropriate engines.

There is demand among business/contractor users for HD trucks with gas engines. As much as I love my 6.4 and so many of us like big n/a V8's, there is a definite market for turbo 6's, I think maybe Ford is the first to prove that out. As for the original subject, not sure a 1000 hp gas engine is going to be more than a novelty. Fun, but maybe too much fun!

Wait! 1000HP from a straight-six? EVERYBODY knows a straight-six can't make horsepower [just being sarcastic]

And the nice thing about it is, a straight-six engine has perfect primary and secondary engine balance.
The only other engine configuration that has that is the V12 (which is basically just two I6 engines bolted together).

I used to drive a 1989 Toyota Supra with a turbocharged 3L-I6. Great engine.

I drove a rental Wagoneer with the SO hurricane and it rips. No turbo lag to speak of, fairly consistent powerband. TCS never stood a chance.
