I'll stick with the Cummins for now, my 4th one. Trips to Nascar, NHRA, and to the coast for fish/crab. My dump trailer, and 5th wheel demand the Cummins. Once I get too old and decrepit to tow my 5th wheel, I'll unload it and get a 1500. Unless I croak first, in that case it wont matter.
Took truck into the dealer 2 miles away and had them flush cooling system and replace with fresh coolant. $231 and I was satisfied. Only 47k on the truck but tow a lot and mostly in the mountains, so sleep better doing preventive maintenance.
My neighbor is going to be selling his fathers 2006 Ram 3500 dually, with 5.9 Cummins and 6 speed manual transmission, 132,866 miles, clean truck no issues.

It's a totally different animal, thats for sure. A whole new learning curve. Bought two 50# sacks of lead shot, for ballast when no passenger aboard. Easy to lift sidecar tire in the air on right turns. And a bit of a wrestling match at times, making turns at slower speeds. Ordered a "Ezee...
I bought my truck from the dealer, Mark Dodge. I go to the local dealer 2 miles away for recalls. Thats about it for me. Although I did have them service my transmission for a decent price. Definitely mo betta to do your own fuel and fuel filters. More money for beer and fishing license fees.
My experience with MD was near identical. I opted to have truck shipped to Sacramento for $1600 and sold my 16 locally for high KBB. Well I guess not so identical , as I had mine built. 50 days from day of order until truck was on the lot in Lake Charles. Never the less it was a painless experience.
